Re: Turkey nests......

I've seen the remains of egg shells on a nest once shortly after the hatch. I've also seen a couple of hens sitting on the nest before but kept my distance and eased off. I really don't want to spook those hens off their nest for the same reason Strut mentioned but I have accidently spooked a few hens off the nest.

Re: Turkey nests......

I have only seen two actual nests over the last 15 years. The most recent was two springs ago in PA, and I happened to catch the hen actually leaving the nest as I walked by, I caught the movement out of my left eye. I walked up to the nest to check it out and there was one egg that looked like it rolled about 2' away from the nest? I didn't touch anything, and left it as is, and walked away.

Here is a pic of a actual turkey nest that a friend sent me last year from Ohio. wink.gif
