Gator
Re: Problem! Any help? Yes, please help. We both shot the gun, both had the same results, shots everywhere, never seen such a thing in my life. BTW, I had already shot mine with success, so we can rule out shooter error. David_218
Re: Problem! Any help? I am puzzled Did you store your powder in a cool dry place? Also what powder "777" , Pyrodex RS, or Black Powder? Are your caps firing right or do you experience hang-fires? I suggest you try some new powder and caps to rule out this as a problem. Let us know okay?

Are you using a bore brush? 3. Are these the bullets? http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item.asp?sku=00061900183

Guest Rhinodog
Re: Problem! Any help? [ QUOTE ] If the scope mount is tight, then it sounds like the bullet-sabot is skipping past the rifling. Buy JB Bore Paste & read the directions. If JB's ain't available, go to the auto parts store & get a can of Permatex Hand Cleaner. Apply the soft soap to a patch liberally with a wire brush. Alternate patches with gun oil... ie.. one with cleaner... one with oil. I'll guess to say you were using a weak solvent. I'll guess again & say you cleaned with a jag instead of a bore brush. Buy a good solvent like Butch's Bore Shine, Birchwood Casey Bore Cleaner + Two, Shooters Choice, CVA Sabot Solvent... etc. Stay away from the weak fouling-only cleaners like T/C-13. If You're shooting lead bullets, get a cleaner that says it removes lead. If you are shooting plastic sabots, get one that says lead & plastic. If you're shooting copper bullets, make sure the cleaner says it removes copper. Soap & water is for dishes & washing your car or face... not guns. It'll work for a while... then one day I read posts similar to yours from soap users. The come to boards like this looking for remedys to their jag/TC-13/soap & water/Simple Green... etc cleaning habits. I have bought my fair share of "dirty' guns on auction sites at sinful low-low prices only to turn around & sell them for $75-100 profit. The prior owners thought the barrel was worn out.... all it needed was a real cleaning. [/ QUOTE ] I agree. Sounds like you have plastic build-up in the rifling. The CVA sabot solvent works great. Hot soapy water is fine for guns shooting patched round balls, but I prefer something that will help with the plastic when shooting sabots. RyanH
Re: Problem! Any help? Will Gun Scrubber work? I went to the store and they are completly out of all kinds of bore cleaner!!!! So do you think Gun Scrubber will work for the plastic in my barrel? Also will i be able to look down the barrel and tell the plastic stuff is gone?
Guest Patrick_White
Re: Problem! Any help? I saw your PM first and replied to it. In short, as long as what you get says it works on plastic your OK. The stuff I use, Butches Blackpowder bore shine, doesn't. However if you read the fine print it says it's safe on most plastics. Apparently it works on sabot plastic as I've not had a problem in 3 or 4 hundred shots since I switched to it.

You should be able to see the plastic. It dulls the shine of the barrel. It gets in the corners of the lands and grooves of the barrel rifling. AJ
Re: Problem! Any help? That is really common for BP guns. I clean between all shots. Consistancy is the key to accuracy. Keep the same level of fouling and the gun will act the same. Vary the junk in the bore and the bullets will wander.

Guest Patrick_White
Re: Problem! Any help? I've heard that even many of the smokeless guys swab between shots. It's a dry swab but still a swab. Unless your shooting Powerbelts, regular lead conicals, or a patched round ball, your gonna be swabbing.
