Squirrelhunter91
Yesterday I went out scouting for turkey in the area I plan to hunt them. At the top of the mountain there was tons of turkey tracks and scratchings and scat. We know for sure that this is fresh considering it had snowed the night before.. There were strut marks in the snow next to tracks that would walk alone next to the flock. That means that the Toms are strutting! I also found a few weird looking imprint in the snow. It looked like a Tom's wing. There were no footsteps in the imprints or leading to the imprints. The bird must have flew up, and hit the ground with its wings, kind of like at flydown time. There were 3 seperate marks like this. Has anyone ever seen this before or do I just sound like I'm crazy? I also believe that their roost is somewhere around here. I saw them in this same area in the Summer and Fall, but we just couldn't connect with one in the fall.
maytom
Re: Went out scouting yesterday-- great finds and sign I'm going to be out wednesday morning, checking out some spots of mine as well. The snow is almost gone now, and it should be easy walking!!!
