put another one in the freezer

If i can figure out how to get the stupid pics from the realtree hosting site to here we can add some more points for team 12

But here is the story

Hunted saturday morning

conditions couldnt have been worse, for me and the weather, i had spent a little time at the local watering hole the night before so I was a little foggy when i climbed into the stand that morning. It was raining pretty good, and the wind was just starting to blow.

I hadnt been in the stand more than 20 minutes when two does left the corn below me and started up the hill on a path that leads straight to the bottom of my stand. THe first and larger of the two stepped into a little opening 28 yards away, and presented me with a perfect 1/4 away shot, i drew back and hit the trigger, All i could hear was the sickining sound of the arrow hitting a limb and watched the white fletching go right over her shoulder. The deer wasted no time booking right back the way she came into the corn field. As it became a little lighter out i figured out the problem, she had walked into one of my cleared shooting lanes but in the early light i had failed to notice that the wind had blown a small branch down, that was now hanging from another limb above it just so happened that the branch was dead between me and where the deer had stood. I was a little frustrated and debating getting down to see if my buddy had killed the second doe, as she had run straight towards him at my shot. Just as i started to pull up my rope, i hear two faint grunts, i look down the hill and another two does and a little 4 point come out of the corn and start up the hill. I let the four point do the talking as he is pushing the does pretty hard. The first never offered me a shot as she walked straight up and under my stand but the second doe paused to nibble on some underbrush about 10 yards away, as she took a step with her right leg, i took aim at the little triangle of white and let go. The arrow passed completely threw her hitting the heart and both lungs, she fell over right away, stood up and ran about 50 yards out into the corn field. The track job was short and sweet as she only made it about 10 rows deep in the corn, I was kinda dreading looking for a deer in a corn field in the pouring rain. Didnt need to sweat it at all.

She is only a little first year doe but as the tenderloins last night proved she is fine eatin.

even more good news. As i was loading the deer into the truck the farmer came out and said he had talked to the DNR guy a couple of days ago and had recieved a kill permit for 40 does!!

that means i know have kill permits on all three farms i hunt.

guess im gonna have to invest in that new deep freezer i was looking at.

now if i could only figure out this photo issue it would be about perfect.

be safe and good luck

Re: put another one in the freezer

LOL@TODD

yup may be, after the miss, when i saw her walking up the hill, my onlyt thought was dont mess this one up idiot, that and the fact that i was in a mood to stick the first four legged, white tailed animal that choice to walk within thirty yards of me, made size seem like such a little detail.....funny thing is it had a little result grin.gif
