It shoots like a bow that is 38"

[/ QUOTE ]

A lot of folks say that. I would never buy a bow that short, until I shot it. It does shoot like a much longer bow. The reason being that the riser is so long, longer than most 36" bows. That gives it the feel of a longer bow.

I can't decided between the Switchback or Outback. grin.gif Might by both. grin.gif

Re: Mathews Outback

If you are buying a new bow. Buy the switchback rather than the outback. It is only 1 1/2" inches longer, axle to axle. And is about 15 feet/sec faster, more forgiving, quieter and more fun to shoot. I am trading my outback in for the switchback. Much nicer bow!!!!!!2

But, I have no complaints about my outback, just the switchback is better!!!!--Rossman

Re: Mathews Outback

rossman, don't get caught up in that IBO stuff. IBO is determined by shooting the lightest arrow, the lightest broadhead/fieldpoint, lightest nocks etc...

My dad shoots the Outback and has no complaints about it whatsoever.

But since Mathews comes out with a new bow each year, they should give all Mathews owners a chance to trade in for their newest bow, The Mathews Buyback .

Is their a huge diffrent between a legacy and a outback?

In my opinion, yes there is. The Outback is a lot more shooter friendly, and a much more forgiving bow than the Legacy. Not to say the Legacy is a bad bow, because it's not.

When it comes to the outback, and the Switchback, I feel those two bows are very similar. The SB is a tad faster, and a little quieter. I honestly think the OB is a smoother shooter, less vibration on the shot. I just had a chance to upgrade from my outback, to the Switchback, and I decided it wasn't worth the extra money. The two bows are too similar, and I like the Outback too much to part with it yet.

Just my opinions.

I do not get caught up with the IBO stuff. If there are two bows on the rack, which shoot and weigh very similar, and one is faster. Which one would you choose? The faster one. Why not have an extra 10 - 15 feet/sec faster.

Don't get me wrong, the outback is a very nice bow. But do not shoot the switchback!!! It will ruin your outback, and make you wish you bought the switchback.

Either bow you buy, you will be happy--Rossman

That is your opinion rossman. There are still those of us that prefer the Outback. I prefer the shorter bow because of some of my treestand sites. I'm not worried about a few fps either. Shooting [email protected]", I wiull never see speeds anywheres near what the bows are rated for anyway.

Like I said, I shot them both, and don't get me wrong the SB is one sweet bow, but I don't find it that much of an improvement to sell my OB for less than I paid for it, and plunk down another $200 for a SB.

Re: Mathews Outback

i hunted with my outback for the first time last fall what a nice bow i really like being able to manuver amongst the branches without having to cut alot of branches its also nice for turkey hunting you can actually sit on the ground and shoot comfortably i forgot the name of the company that makes it but there's a bow that is 24" axle to axle!the shorter bow is nice if you hunt out of portable blinds too.

I have always been told the shorter and lighter the bow, the harder it is to become consistent.

The Outback is over 4 pounds and has a riser longer than 99% of the 36" ATA bows on the market. It shoots a lot like a 36" bow.

I think he means it would be nice if Mathews had a buyback program so we could update on the new models every year. Nice idea but I dont see it happening.

[/ QUOTE ]

Thats why I was looking for that program...lol There is no way Mathews could give you back on a 2004 outback, what you could get for it on Ebay. I was curious to see how little they were offering back. Went right over my head!!!...lol grin.gif
