No way, i would sell replicas, but never the real thing. I'll probably never shoot a world record animal, but theres no way in the world I'd sell it.

I agree with you 100%. It amazes me when I hear of people selling off their world record mounts and what not. To me that symbolizes that you aren't a hunter, you're just in it for the antlers and the money. Even if I was falling on extremely hard times, that mount would be there to see me through them.

Re: Would you ever sell....

Sell it, Nope.. Lease it for the right amount of cash, Absolutely!! As long as it has my name on it when showed, where it was killed, etc.. Lots of people out there who love to see those big racks and that's what gets a lot of younger hunters interested..

Now just to kill me a world record

Re: Would you ever sell....

For the right price Id sell it in a heartbeat.Theyre just antlers after all.I could do a lotta things for my family with enough money, pat the house off, get the wife a different vehichle, set some money aside for the kids to goto college. As long as I got pictures and memories Id have no problem selling a set of antlers.

Yup...I'd sell just about anything for the right price, mounts are not something Im really into anyway.

Re: Would you ever sell....

yep---Let's say you sell it to Cabela's for 100,000 bucks--plus a certain percentage of income generated from shows. The mount will be taken all over the country to shows---that way thousands of people get to enjoy your mount. You retain rights to t-shirt sales, sticker sales, and other endorsements. Have the buyer make you a couple replica's---then you don't have to worry about security of the original mount---plus the extra money in the bank. Yep--I wouldn't have a problem selling it if the conditions were right.

Re: Would you ever sell....

I think it would depend on what record animal i took. I shot the next Typical world record whitetail. I would sell it in a heartbeat I'm not the kind of person that would like random people knockin on my door everyday to see the mount or worry about somebody stealing it plus you know how many hunting trips you could go on with that money.....haha
