Squirrelhunter91
I am starting to save up my money for a new rifle. I don't know if I should go for a .17 HMR or a 22-250. It is going to be my varmint gun for coyotes and stuff like that. How much would a new, bolt action 22-250 cost me?
lil hunter
Re: How much would a new 22-250 cost me? Depends on what brand/model etc you want. You can get a decent Rem. ADL(or now, sportsman) for about $375.+ whatever scope you get. Thats one of the cheaper models, you can spend as much as you want above that. About $400.00 to well into the thousands. Depends on what you want to spend. Make sure you buy good optics for it also.
AJ
Re: How much would a new 22-250 cost me? You can start with the H&R 1871 Handi Rifle in 22-250 Rem which runs $190 or so up to $5000. You can get a Savage sporter rifle for just over $390. Add a decent scope for $200 - $500 and you can be set up for under $400 or up to whatever you want so spend. Norm Sauceman
Re: How much would a new 22-250 cost me? The 22-250 is an awesome gun for varmints for sure. However, if you are wanting to utilize the pelts afterwards you may want something that does not do too much damage. I know my 22-250 was an awesome gun and I regret having to sell it but it would literally explode everything inside the skin and sometimes leave a big bruise on the inside of the cape. Some of the fur buyers would not buy them because the bruise would make the fur slip later on. I used a 22 magnum for years but it was not effective for quick-clean kills past about 60 yards. I am really liking the new 17's and the 204. I am researching hard to find what is right for me. Good luck!
