slugshooter
Re: Minuteman project [ QUOTE ] if anyone does get shot i hope it's an illegal, that ILLEGAL alien who is not welcome in this country, and not an american [/ QUOTE ] So you advocate murder, since that is what it is if one of those "minutemen"* shoots an unarmed Mexican who is trying to have a better life, we're lucky, we live in a country that people want to get to, I bet if you lived in Mexico you'd want to get out also, how would you feel if a civilian toting an AR-15 shoots you because you crossed the border. I believe that they need to attempt every effort to obtain legal status before they come to America, but for some that is not possible, it sure as **** doesn't mean that some Joe Schmo with a gun fetish can shoot him. IMO, whoever shoots an unarmed mexican is no better than the D.C. sniper, along with those who condone it. * Calling themselves Minutemen is a slap in the face and disrespectful to the memory of the true heroes of the Revolutionary War who fought for this countries freedom and enabled this jackassery to be able to happen today. popgun
Re: Minuteman project I must admit that I am somewhat puzzled. Many of the members of this forum think it is absolutely appalling, detestable, and an abomination to shoot a dog that is running deer on your side of the property line. Some of these same people have no qualms about an American vigilante shooting another human being. I am not trying to be argumentative; I'm just puzzled by the attitude of some of my fellow human beings. .....popgun

wtnhunt
Re: Minuteman project LOL. You are kidding right popgun. Shooting illegals could beviewed as murder, but it could also be viewed as murder if it were soldiers shooting them too. My point is what difference is there in a soldier shooting an illegal so many people are concerened that might be terrorists and a volunteer shooting them. horst
Re: Minuteman project I kinda stayed outta this so far.Im not sure what to think of the situation.I like the idea of volunteers patrolling the border, if it was me I wouldnt personally be willing to do it unarmed either. [/ QUOTE ] Training would be my guesse.Theres a difference between a guy whos trained to know how to handle situations like that and a guy thats liable to get spooked out there in the middle of the night and start shooting at shadows.imagine running into someone out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night, you dont know if theyre armed or just trying to sneak into the country to work.Theres been threats made against you by a gang of drug runners anyway.Hows the average civilian gonna react? Some will do allright, some would probably freeze up, and Im sure you got some that would shoot first, and ask questions later. I gotta agree with pogun, some of the replies here bothered me.Some of you dont seem to hold human life in very high regard. Some of you that are totally against things like abortion dont seem to give much thought to shooting a person coming into the country for work just because the governments not doing its job. slugshooter
Re: Minuteman project Too many people on here have more respect for a Deer that they have just shot than they have for another human life, unless of course it involves an unborn child. Gator
Re: Minuteman project No, that's not what I said, or meant to say. SS was talking about human life, not the illegal aliens to be specific. He had a broad staement, and so did I, that's all. I think if they come across the border, we should show them the way back across IMMEDIATELY. No questions asked. slugshooter
Re: Minuteman project [ QUOTE ] Some people have more respect for the criminal than the victims.....ie liberal democrats. [/ QUOTE ] No, it's called respect for human beings, of which you don't seem to have, which is not news to me and shouldn't be to anyone else on here. Hey parrothead, do us all a favor, go down to Mexico and then try to cross the border illegally, and try to be really sneaky about it, for the sake of all humanity. Since the ultra-conservative consensus on here is to shoot anyone committing an illegal act, I dare anyone on here to shoot anyone breaking a law, because in that respect, you have just broken the law, as will be one of these "minutemen" who "accidentally" pulls the trigger because he isn't trained to handle situations like he encounters like the police, military, or border patrol. I can't wait until the white supremacists show up like someone else mentioned and really make this into a show, because Lord knows we Americans haven't already done enough to make us look like idiots to the rest of the world, hey, it might accomplish what you guys want, people won't want to emigrate here because 1) They won't want to be associated with us and 2) They'll be afraid of being shot once they step off the plane. Heck, none of us would be here today if it weren't for our ancestors taking a boat to make a better life for themselves, the only difference is the Mexicans don't need a boat. Guest andymansavage
Re: Minuteman project UPDATE- tips from the minutemen led to arrests of over 150 illegals over the weekend with no violence. The Mexican officials are telling their people " don't even try this month" ..........wow, these "gun happy rednecks" might be onto something........ popgun
Re: Minuteman project If everyone would keep their comments about the Minuteman Project on the same thread it would be a lot easier to follow. If everyone starts a new thread when they want to update the situation in AZ, we'll soon have hundreds of threads on the same subject to keep up with. ****************************************** TOMBSTONE - Citizens who volunteered to patrol the Mexican border for illegal immigrants and smugglers are disrupting Border Patrol operations by tripping sensors that alert agents to possible illegal crossings, an agency spokesman said Monday. Even though volunteers for the Minuteman Project were only beginning their regular, monthlong patrols Monday, they have unwittingly set off sensors during the past few days, forcing agents to respond to what essentially is a false alarm, said Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Jose Maheda. "Every sensor has to be addressed," Maheda said. "It's taken away from our normal operations." .....popgun
