Re: Practice.

I shoot all year round too. Even if I can't make it to the local shop with an indoor range I'll shoot the 12 yards I have in my garage. No, it's not far and not really a challenge, but it keeps my form good and keeps my muscles in shape.

I am getting my new Mathews ready for turkey season. She is dead on out to 30 right now which is all the further I will shoot for turkey anyways. After the season is over, we'll work on longer yardages for deer.

12 yards is not challenging enough? try shrinking your bullseyes on your targets down to "dime-size". If you can hit that everytime at 12 yards, then I'll agree that you are not being challenged enough. grin.gif

I shoot a lot when its hot out. Normally My friends and I shoot atleast 3 times a week and then try to get together on the weekend to shoot once. We shoot 10-35 yards.

Re: Practice.

OK, with considering NY State winter weather, after the temps climb out of below zero to above 32 degrees and the 3 ft of snow melts, I must then wait for the 3 inches of water to leach out of my lawn and then allow the sun to dry up the mud. Once I am able to walk on it without leaving footprints where ever I step, I usually shoot once a week maybe about 25 arrows. Just before archery season I crank it up though to practicing everyday until I am absolutely confident at whatever range I plan as my furthest and a bit beyond.

Re: Practice.

Oh yea, I shoot year round. I like to combine practice with my exercise routine. When I return from my run I'll have my bow laid out and take a few shots. With my heart rate elevated it simulates the moment of truth and forces you to concentrate on form. Try it, you'll see what I mean.

Re: Practice.

I have been shooting all winter, well kind of...I have been shooting in my apartment at school, but I can only get about 15 yards away from the target. I shoot from the door at the living room into my roommate's room. grin.gif Just glad I haven't missed. I have also been outside to shoot, can't wait till it gets warmer.

Re: Practice.

I shoot all year round. Every other day. 20-30 arrows a session. I see a lot of you are waiting for the cold to go away. What better time to practice? If you practice in the cold then you should be able to get them in the cold. It always seems to be colder than normal in the season when I get a shot anyway.
