too_pointer
Re: \" Brush guns \" Welcome to the forums 7th I totally agree with Strut and you on this. If you are using buckshot, this changes things some. It still doesn't mean that waiting for a clearer shot doesn't mean alot. I see that most replies are the same, wait for a clear, better shot, or don't shoot at all too_pointer
wtnhunt
Re: \" Brush guns \" Have always heard the 30-30 is the best brush gun, but the slow velocity seems to me it would be easier deflected. I shoot my .270 for up close and out far shots, both in the woods and over open fields. Has proven pretty versatile with the 150 grain core lokts for me. [/ QUOTE ] The 30-30 is one of the best brush guns ...but that is because it is light short and fast handeling, not because the bullet willl actualy go through brush. Guest J_Owens_66
Re: \" Brush guns \" There isn't a cartridge that will successfully punch through brush, you might get lucky, but....i doubt it. Wait for a clear shot. Brush guns, that to me means something that will handle quick, reload quick, and really pack a wallop at close range. I would say 30-30, .300 savage, 45-70 (my top pick), .444 marlin, .450 marlin, ect. I think the 45-70 is the perfect close range thumper for any game, especially if its loaded right, you can even make 250 yards shots with the right loads. Guest lilbuckmaster
Re: \" Brush guns \" I like to use a 35 remington and shot size depending on how far your shooting.I like to use something a little bigger for farther shots. Guest 9point
Re: \" Brush guns \" I have used a 45-70 lever gun (1873 Guide) for the past 4 years. While no rond is good at going through brush this is as close as it gets. I put a burris 4x32 on her and I love it. Cant wait to take another wv deer.
