I WAS EXCITED TO SEE THAT OUR TURKEY SEASON THIS YEAR IS GOING TO ALLOW HUNTERS TO HARVEST A TURKEY IN THE SPRING AND FALL. I HAVE NO PROBLEM OF HOW TO GET A TURKEY IN THE SPRING , BUT HOW DO YOU CALL OR GET CLOSE ON TURKEYS IN THE FALL? I LIVE IN INDIANA AND THE TURKEYS ARE EASTERNS.

This is gonna be my first year hunting Turkey's. I have heard that some people scatter the flocks and then call them back together. Also, I have herad that calls like the Kee Kee and Kee Kee Run are great to use in the fall.

I'm no expert but heres what i do.

Just like everything else we hunt having an idea of were the animals are help. But i've noticed in the fall turkeys seem to cover more of an area soo what it comes down to for me is i put a lot of miles on during turkey season till i find um. The bigger flocks can sure be loud when feeding this gives you a good chance to ambush them. But it dosent always work that way and if you are spotted thats when ya gotta try and brake them up. if they brake up good things are looking up....go to where the birds were have a seat wait a lil bit and start your calling give it time and keep your eyes open.

like i said i'm not expert but this is how i hunt turkeys in the fall

I like to break them up right before dark, before they roost. Then, in the morning, come back to that spot and do some kee kee runs and some soft purring to try and get a bird to come. They will be looking for their group and usually come to ne calls to find their friends.
