TreeStandBowHunter
See what happens when you keep your kids off video games...they use more of their wild imagination My 8 yr old and 5 yr old built this fort entirley by themselves. Probably more the 8yr old than 5 year old. I think it is cool...I might use it as a turkey blind

TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Kids back yard fort...soon to be turkey blind I can hunt period behind my house. If you look at the pics, there is a clearing. On the other side, inside the woods 150 yards starts the State Forest. I just found that out about 2 weeks ago At first I was told you can't hunt back there so we baited it with salt blocks because I wanted to have the deer come up to where we could see them. Now I have to stop I guess so I can hunt back there. The plan was to gradually move the salt blocks towards the house. Oh well, may not be able to make that happen now, but at least I can hunt there. Not sure about the turkey though...definatley deer back there. Now I just have to find out how long you wait to hunt a area that was once baited I wish someone had gave me the right scoop before I started buying a bunch of salt blocks! Tominator
Re: Kids back yard fort...soon to be turkey blind Pretty cool. My kids did the same thing in some of our pines out back. They got upset with me when I booted them out of there when deer season came in.

I had it baited with other stuff too ...we threw corn and appple skins out there. You know, I might not even hunt it because I promised everybody that we would lure the deer in the yard so we can see them outside our windows and watch them. It was working too because thay are eating the crap out of it. But you know what, I have game lands right down the road, I might just do that and leave the animals around our house alone

Rhino
Re: Kids back yard fort...soon to be turkey blind That's great TSBH! Since you said you wanted to move the game in to look at you might not want to have a gobbler flopping around back there with the neighbors watching. Now that the kids have had some practice take them to a hunting area and let tell them to build another fort to turkey hunt from while you do a little scouting.
