Re: Rangefinders?

I don't think there is a Bad (LASER) range finder. Just don't get that one from wal-mart that you turn the dial. The best Range finder is the one you can afford. I have the $160 busnell sport and it works really well, my bro just bought a Nikon 400 and that thing is sweet and small too. It was on sale for 200 at bass

So my suggestion is look around untill you find a good deal. You shouldn't really need one till the season starts back up right?

Re: Rangefinders?

I used a Ranging, dial rangefinder for years until I got my laser this past fall. They aren't the easiset thing to use, but they do work. I used it to set the yardage of my targets. that way. i knew when i ranged something in the field, that it Would be right.

I couldn't go back to one after using the laser rangefinder though.

I use a Bushnell Yardage Pro. It is nice and small. and has worked fine for me. Next to my bow, arrows, and release, it is the one thing I make sure I have when I go bowhunting.

I just got this one last year and I love it. Very accurate and worked as well in the pouring rain we received as a remnant of a hurricane that had originally struck down south.

Re: Rangefinders?

Hi Guys!!!

I have the Lieca rangefinder. It is kinda costly, however, I do like it. Go to cabelas and test out the "clarity" of each. The lens "optics" make a big difference. . Also, how far do you want to range 5 - 400 yards or 5 - 40 yards. Accuracy is also important. These will deviate at greater ranges, even the laser rangefinders.

Note: I bought a laser rangefinder only to find it was off by 2 yards at 20 yards. I HIGHLY suggest that when you buy one you measure off 20 yards and test the accuracy before you buy. I tested 4 at 20 yards and only 1 was dead on. Thes others were off by a yard or 2.

good luck to all

Re: Rangefinders?

I am an instinctive shooter but have friends that use the rangefinders. Bushnell yardage pro is their choice. Other than heresay I couldn't tell you what is the best. Like Pointing Dogs Rule said try them out before you buy. That's the best advice any one could give.

I have the Nikon 400, and to be honest, I have to send it away sometime soon for repairs. mad.gif

It won't measure anything past 25 yards or so, and no, it's not the battery.

We'll see if Nikon stands behind their product.

I have the same one, I havent had any problems with it and I hope I dont. Let us know if Nikon takes care of you

Re: Rangefinders?

You should spend the extra money and buy a waterproof and floatable rangefinger. Bushnell makes one. I had a top of the line bushnell, which was not waterproof. I dropped it out of my climbing treestand, into a puddle. By the time I got down to get it. it was fried. Do to operator error, the warranty was void. My dad has waterproof and floatable bushnell and loves it.

Just what I reccomend. Also, there will be no worries in the rain!!!!

I've sent my binos back and they repaired them for free and only took about a week to get them back... they even cleaned and conditioned them so good they look like a new pair. I'm sure they'll do the same with your rangefinder...
