Browning 525

Please give me the pros and cons of thr Browning 525. Should I buy the field or the sporting? Ported or non ported? Please help me decide. All opinions appreciated. Thanks.

The Citori is a good entry level o/u of good quality. It will serve you just fine for many years. Do you want a hunting gun or a sporting clay gun? Either will work just fine for either job. If you notice the sporting gun has less drop in the comb than the field gun. This may fit you better and that is very important in wingshooting.

Porting reduces the recoil a bit, it does make the gun a bit louder, not as bad as a rifle with a brake, but it is louder. If this is a clay target gun, you won't notice as you should have hearing protectin on at all times while shooting. Porting does reduce muzzle flip. You should always shoot the bottom barrel first as it's line is lower for less barrel flip but the porting reduces it even more. Once you learn to shoot it you can be amazed at how quick you can get from one target to the other.

The field gun has a max of 28" barrels. The sporting gun has 28, 30, or 32" barrels. I prefer 30" barrels on o/u guns. My trap doubles gun has 32" barrels.

Take your pick. I prefer a flatter stock and longer, ported barrels. Personally, I would go with the Sporting version.

Good info for me. I always thought that you shot the upper barrel first, ( have no clue why ) LOL.
