Sako M75 Stainless/Synthetic 7mm-Mag

Sako M75 Stainless/Synthetic .270

Sako M75 Blued/Walnut 7mm-08

Sako TRG-S 7mm-Mag

Sako Custom Deluxe .270

Sako Forester .243

Weatherby .22LR

As you can see I'm partial to Sako's. First two guns are my elk/deer rifles. 7mm-08 I just bought for my wife to deer hunt with. The rest don't get shot that much any more, but I just can't bear to part with them.

My deer rifles consist of one lever action and four bolt actions. They are chambered in 30-30, .243, 25-06, .270, and 30-06. I do not have pics of any scanned except for my .270 :

JimT.. Man, that is one NICE stock. I guess that is why I love the NEF's because many of the wood stocks they have are like that..

Very nice.

Re: Rifles

PAhardwoods

I am keeping all my 99s LOL grin.gif The prices of these great old guns have really climbed over the past 1-2 years. And finding nice, unaltered ( read screwed up tongue.gif) examples are harder & harder to each year. That is a shame. 99s are awesome hunting guns.

Here is my 308 99F with Old 2-7 Leupold Varix-II installed. I plan on using this rifle alot next year

Re: Rifles

Welcome to the Realtree forums GeorgiaBoy.

You're right the Savage 99CD was introduced in 1976 and discontinued in 1980.

My book says anything between $400 for very good, up to $530 for near perfect.

The price can fluctuate greatly depending on the area in which you live, but I wouldn't be afraid to buy it at $530 if it is what you are looking for.

Re: Rifles

The guys over at Savage Shooters will be able to date your rifle exactly.

As for values, it used to be you could get real nice 99s with the rotary magazine for $250-$300 in great shape. Beaters a bit less. And these are in the common calibers like the 300 savage & 308. Now if you look at the auction sites even the grey rats (well used guns with little to no blueing left) are going for $350-$400. And nice examples are selling in the $500-$600 range. If you have one of the more desirable calibers like the 250-3000 savage you can add $200 to those figures. The 358 winchesters are also real desireable, selling in the $750-$950 range. Rare calibers like the 284 win, 22-250 or 375 win go for more than that. There is a site called guns America, look them up and then run a search on Savage 99s. The prices you see those guys asking for are through the roof! It is not an auction site, but rather a straight sale. Lots of dealers around the country list guns there.

The purists love the pre 1 million serial number guns the best. They were made before 1960. They have the safety on the lever. The post 1 mill guns have the tang safety (Which actually works better for me since I shoot left handed) The older guns are like fine watches. Really well made. But even the 1960s and 70s versions I have held have been nice.

I am not nearly familiar with the older, turn of the century guns but I know some of them are very valuable as well.
