lil hunter
Re: Savage 17 HMR results first day of shooting those look pretty nice. Those groups at 100 yards are about equal to what i got outta my Savage 17 Sunday afternoon.

Guest ketchum
Re: Savage 17 HMR results first day of shooting In order to get my HMR to shoot well, I have to run a bore snake through it every 3 or 4 shots. It's a Ruger 77. Who makes the Sweet 17 scope?

DannoBoone1
Re: Savage 17 HMR results first day of shooting Savage, Marlin, Ruger..........makes little difference, that 17 HMR is one decent, accurate little round. Sighted my Marlin 17VLSS @ 75yds, attaining 1/4 & 3/8" groups. Haven't shot paper since. Have gotten starlings out to 100yds & crows out to 165yds. In my mind, that is THE sweetest little rimfire brought out to date, hands down. The .22 mags definately have more kinetic energy at the longer ranges, but not the accuracy. Would rather pop a squirrel's head @ 100yds with the 17HMR than do a body shot with the .22 mag!
