birddog
Hey guys: Just got back (and I am whooped) from a weekend fishing walleyes on the rainy river in Northern MN: Lots of great pics of walleyes, but this fish was the highlight! I just switched to a new reel of 6lb XT, and I hooked into the biggest sturgeon I have landed! This guy was over 55 inches (tape quit at 50) It was awesome indeed: I hope this works:
fisherguy
Re: Rainy River weekend:(pic) Nice. I have been south to Rainy Lake to crappie fish once. Apparently the efforts by Ontario and Minnesota to get the sturgeon back in the river have paid off. Numerous pwople have told me that there are pretty good numbers of sturgeon in the 30 to 60 inch range showing up.

birddog
Re: Rainy River weekend:(pic) missed160: Lots of big eyes: I wasn't very lucky this weekend with 24's being my biggest: But the boat had luck: A buddy had the time of his life catching 6 walleyes bigger than his previous best: Lots of 26's and a 27: Another buddy got a 28.5 that went over 10lbs! I hear the fall is great too: Looks like the river is getting muddy right now, so it may be done! I would love to go up and target strugeon for a day...they sure are fun....but ugly! Where are you from?

birddog
Re: Rainy River weekend:(pic) You are always welcome buddy: Life is good and the fish just keep biting! If your bro is going up next weekend he should be o.k.: Very little run off is happening so, the muddy water should clear: I am thinking of another trip up this weekend. Just keep me posted, and I'll try to hook up with you guys!

birddog
Re: Rainy River weekend:(pic) Missed: I live within 20 minutes of Battle: I Love the fishing in this area. I did not apply for a turkey permit but I will be doing some video work for a couple of guys who did draw tags. There are a lot around in some places. If you head up this way, you'll have to let me know: I usually have my ear to the ground for the hot fish bite :-)
