Covehnter Posted April 4, 2005 Report Share Posted April 4, 2005 Saturday 8:00am Called this one in for my dad in between 30mph wind gusts, he put on an awesome show and came in with 6 or 8 jakes. Stats: 20lbs, 10 1/4 inch beard, and 1 1/16 inch hooked spurs. Sunday, I went with a friend and had birds gobbling really really good. Bird on the roost gobbled an excess of 100 times, he flew down with hens and was about 80 yards when two toms came from across the field and a paved road (about 800 yards) to the call, made eye contact with the other bird while coming into the setup and ran him off. The two birds were 40-45 yards, i was confident i could kill them bu tmy buddy wasnt so we passed. Awesome morning though. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Man, it was tough hunting for me this weekend here in Bama. We had the high winds also and pretty cool temps too. The turkeys gobbled really good (the best all season) earlier in the week and completely shut down this weekend. I only heard one gobble all weekend...not one "gobbler" but one "gobble".
