Anyone have a great choke - shot combo for the 870 super Mag ? My season hasn't opened and was entertaining trying a new set-up. I hear the Rhino choke and hevi shot are awesome - Any thoughts ?

Re: 870 Mag Choke-Shot

Well many people do go with the Nitro/Rhino combo. That seems to be the best pattern for many people. Some people say to just try different ammo and chokes until you get that perfect pattern for your shotgun. But, this can run into alot of money. Turkey loads and chokes aren't cheap. So, why not get the Nitro/Rhino combo first. I personally didn't go that route with my 870. I jumped around with ammo and shotshells. Found that Comp-N-Choke and Remington Factory Super Full along with Federal FliteControls work great in my gun. When I upgrade to a Benelli M2 or SBE2, I will go with Nitro 4x5x7 and a Rhino choke tube.

Re: 870 Mag Choke-Shot

My 870 super express loves a factory Rem. super full turkey choke shooting Rem. 3 1/2" #6 hevi-shot. Tried several chokes and ammo combo's and nothing compared. Can't seem to bring myself to buy the Rhino, Kick's, or Comp-n-choke....they are all supposed to be really good, but hard to spend the $ without knowing.

With my current set-up...shooting a 9" paper plate with a 3" circle in the middle...I got 21 bb's in the 3" circle with a total of 114 bb's in the entire plate at 40 yards. wink.gif
