My own feeling is that religion should be kept private and not crammed down people's throats in a public forum! If I remember right, Real Tree is about the outdoors and hunting, not some religious enviroment! Drop religion and keep the politics! I don't like to see it turned into a preaching ground either, but how do you avoid it? Do you just sit back and be silent when someone post something about their faith that is in opposition to what you believe ? It would be pretty tough for some of us, including myself, to discuss politics and keep our faith, whatever it is, out of the conversation. It's obvious that people want to talk about religion simply because of the responses. That way those out there that don't want to be involved...don't have to! No one is making you read them!?! Right? Yes, it gets heated, but that's what good debates should be. Besides, it's almost impossible to seperate religion from politics. I really take offense with someone telling me that I am "TOTALLY LOST"!! How can anyone judge me as to wether I am "SAVED" or "LOST"?? What rubbish from the religious hypocrites!!! Most of the people who wear religion on their sleeves, are the ones who judge other people immediately! You are the ones that need a lot of help and you aren't going to find it in religion! I have never had any trouble separating religion and politics! I can easily make up my mind as to how to vote without religion entering into the picture! Religion is nothing but something that plays on people's fears and instills more fear into them! If you believe in yourself, you don't have to live in a world of fear!! Now you all know I am FAR from the goody goody Christian (not being ignorant, just couldn't find another way to say it)...proabably one of the most foul mouths here but I don't mind seeing it. Nobody in here has ever tried to cram reliegion down my throat. They may have used bible verses against me ......I choose to read the religous posts. I am not forced to and either are any of you. Just like all the other threads in here, nobody is forced to look at them. Like Buckee's thread earlier. I chose to look at it and comment on it. I didn't understand most of it but that is not cramming religion down my throat. In ending, politics and religion do go together sort of, JMO. I mean if we stuck strictly to hunting, fishing, etc...then I would say throw the religion out. But we don't. Do you know the meaning of the word "hypocrite"? You have to know what a person says and what they do in their private life to call them a hypocrite. Buckee may be the biggest one I know, he may gamble, cheat on his wife and shoot crack for all I know. But unless we see each others actions vs what they say, this is an uninformed opinion. You are also right about not finding help in religion. You find it in a close and personal relationship with Jesus Crist. As far as separating religion and politics, this falacy has been created in the passed 30 years. It has never been done reguardless of what John Kerry says. [/ QUOTE ] Orlan, I am the one that suggested we add "and Religion" to this room. The reasoning behind that suggestion was NOT a venue to convert people or anything along those lines. It was simply a logical move, considering any heated religious discussion found its way here anyway. Not only that, but the obvious correlation between faith and politics---it just fits. IF you post a religious topic of course you should expect religious debate. I just hate it when posts get sidetracked by religious debates that have nothing to do with the original topic. Kind of like A post in the bowhunting room on someone buying a new Matthews turning into a big ""Hoyt is better, they shoot faster" type post. [/ QUOTE ] I havent seen much discussion, but since the word religion got put into the title of this room I have seen a lotta "My church is better than yours" posts.Ive seen people called out to "defend" thier religon.Ive seen people threaten to report other people to the site administration.Ive seen one guy just walk away when his church was referred to as a cult.And Ive seen people who seem to think they know if a complete stranger is "lost" or saved by reading a few words a persons typed in a public forum. Ive also seen the suggestion to not read it if you dont like it.Thats getting **** near impossible when its getting throw into every post in the room.Judging by a couple recent posts its now just being used as an excuse to piss other people off.Regardless of any disclaimers this room might have in it, people dont come to a hunting websight to be preached at and have scripture read to them, if they were after a steady barrage of that theyd probably be at a religous website instead. Once again you called OJRs faith into question and then "apologize" if it offends him.You knew when you posted it that it would offend him , but you did it anyway.And you still dont see any problem with this???
