Got My Mount Back!!!

Thursday I got a call on my cell phone at work from my taxidermist. He told me my deer was ready. I was surprised, it was a month sooner than he said it would be. I got there, and I was quite happy with how it came out. The antler repair is flawless. You can kind of see where I shot him, but the slug left a gaping baseball size hole in his upper chest. so I was pleasantly surprised with how that looked. I was worried about that. Here are a couple pics. I know he isn't a monster, and most of you would never have thought of mounting him, but I worked hard for this deer, and he is my first buck.

Here is a pic as he lay, with tha antler broken off in his back.

Re: Got My Mount Back!!!

Great looking mount John,,,I sure wouldn't have hesitated in having him mounted and on my wall....

I have yet to get a buck with a rack big enough to even consider mounting, I guess if I really want a nice mount I'm going to have to do it in another state other than Vermont...LOL

Again CONGRATS on a great looking TROPHY... smile.gif

Re: Got My Mount Back!!!

I would've had him mounted in a second. He's a beautiful looking animal. Besides,,, the true measure of a "trophy" animal is not the size of the antlers, it's the whole hunting experience that went into harvesting that animal. Congratulations and enjoy all the memories you will experience each time you take the time to stare at that mount and remember that day and the days that led up to it.
