Nut
Is draw only now Here is a statement at the DOW [ QUOTE ] New this year, the early muzzleloader deer hunt at Salt Fork, Shawnee and Wildcat Hollow will be by permit only. Hunters interested in participating will need to submit a controlled hunt application during the application period, June 1 – July 31, 2005. A specific number permits will be issued. The permit issued will designate whether the hunter can kill an antlered or antlerless deer. This hunt previously was for bucks only. The early muzzleloader deer hunt is October 24 - 29. [/ QUOTE ] I hunt at the Wildcat Hollow area and have been there when the people come rolling in. I have met quite a few of them who have been doing this for years. I also have a friend who lives inside the area. So the DOW is going to tell him he has to draw on his own land?

Ohiobucks
Re: Ohio\'s early season primitive hunt [ QUOTE ] So the DOW is going to tell him he has to draw on his own land? [/ QUOTE ] Does the state own his land Fred? That early season hunt is for state land in three areas of the state, right? My guess is his land is private land within the boundry of Wildcat and is off limits to the early season hunt anyway. I went once, to Salt Fork and participated in the early season ML hunt. Man, what a crowd. Didn't feel safe at all. Way too many people in one area, IMHO. I am glad they went to a draw system now, they needed to do that years ago. Again, JMO. Tominator
Re: Ohio\'s early season primitive hunt I thought it was always draw only. Got to go with what Tom says though.
Nut
Re: Ohio\'s early season primitive hunt Yea he had to follow the rules every year for the early season primitive since his land is within the boundaries. I will be talking to him this weekend and find out more. I also plan on calling the DOW and asking them about it.
