JimT
I finally picked up some of this stuff, and am planning on putting it out this weekend. I got the peanut butter kind. We cannot hunt over it here, but I am hoping to get some pics off from it with my Stealth Cam. I have read that some guys put it on a stump, and other put it on the ground. What works best? I bought two gallons. One for now and one for a refresher this fall. Any suggestions would be great.
Shaun_300
Re: Buck Jam we had got this foam stuff for the dear, it tasted like corn or something. we just put it on top of a salt block. they loved it! i'm sure if you just cleared a spot on the ground and put it down, it would be fine. i'd try a small piece of clear fiberglass or maybe a 2x6, i'm sure they'd eat that stuff no matter what. 6sixpoint_nobrows
Re: Buck Jam doesnt matter too much, if its on the ground dont make the mistake i did and having it to high, because when it takes the pictures if the deer's to close you cant barely see it, so i would recom end putting it on a stump and put the camera about 4 feet high..good luck
Guest deldeer
Re: Buck Jam i put mine on a rotten log & on the ground around it. i used the persimmons kind. i took it back to the stand that eve. & dumped it out. they tore it up about an hour later !!!!!!!....11 does. i was waiting for a certain individual to show up, but he did'nt . that was the first time i saw them first hand tearing that log up!!!!!! what a sight. im sold on that stuff!!!!does'nt seem to last long though, think next year i will keep it fresh .....good luck
JimT
Re: Buck Jam Also,,,do you think my plan of two gallons a year will be enough? Remember, it snows here in the winter, so for three months it will probably be buried.

wtnhunt
Re: Buck Jam Never tried the stuff, but bet a stump would work well. Put a salt block on a rotten stump here once several years back and the deer really wore it out.

ThethirdI
Re: Buck Jam It comes in a gallon jug that is the shape of an antifreeze container. It works like a charm. I have used it on old rotten logs and on the ground. One spot looks like a meteor hit it because the hole that they have created is so deep. I use it on public land and like it because after it soaks in nobody can tell it was there until the deer start tearing it up. And even with my human sniffer I can smell it a mile away. bozz
Re: Buck Jam I put out quite a few gallons of this thick stuff last year with no success....tried all the favors....my deer just don't like anything....home made or store bought....I think all the rain wash most of it away.....I've had zero luck with all kinds of licks....don't know why....all my cams ever got was a few raccoons tearing the ground up.....may try some more...I like the scent of this thick gooey jell. Guest BuckMaster058
Re: Buck Jam Yeah it works we put it on the ground and on a rottin stump on club property where we hunt. And they must of went crazy over it. Cuz we went back and hoof marks and tore up the soil around the stump must of liked it and there was no more and tryin to get what was left. JimT
Re: Buck Jam I put it out yesturday...half on a log and half on the ground next to it. . Man, that stuff is thick. It was in my truck the night before last and it got down into the 20s'. Took about five minutes for it to all ooze out. Hope it works. I got a camera on it so I will be heading back in a couple weeks to check it out....I may put out the second gallon I bought somewhere else to see what happens..... Not sure yet though.
