AJ
Is the barrel a cantilever mount or are you using a saddle mount? The Burris Fullfield II is a great scope. They do come in low power versions. You can get their 3-9x40 with free spot scope for about the same price though. Nikon Monarch scopes are also good quality and are priced mid range. They have some low power variables that will fit your needs. Leupold has some fixed power scopes that are decent. I would stick with FX-II or FX-III just like sticking with the VX-II or VX-III in their variable line. These scopes have decent eye relief which is important with slug guns. Does the youth model fit you? That stock is pretty short. I prefer a stock that is too long vs too short with slugs. OUCH!
David_218
Re: need advice on a slug gun scope I have a Weaver 2.5 power scope on my Browning Gold Slug shotgun. It seems to work fine.
AJ
Re: need advice on a slug gun scope So why bother with a scope? I would just use plain barrel with rifled slug. When distance is measured in feet not yards, accuracy does not matter. When I bowhunted hogs we didn't even take handguns.
JimT
Re: need advice on a slug gun scope Go with a Weaver V3. Great little scope for sure.
AJ
Re: need advice on a slug gun scope [ QUOTE ] I am going to be in a bottom...no branches on trees under 20ft or so...no where to climb should one come after me [/ QUOTE ] Where I hunted in Kalifornia, there were no trees to climb at all. Fields and scrub brush, thats all. Just shoot them. Thats part of the fun, you don't know whats going to happen. I have seen 300# boars just run in a circle and squeal after being shot. I have also seen 75# hogs charge after the shot. Part of the fun, ya never know!
lil hunter
Re: need advice on a slug gun scope If you want a "shoot or that hog will tear me up gun" I would have to recommend just rifled sights. They are a lot quicker to point and shoot in my opinion. And you wanted a lighter, smaller gun, the rifle sights are a lot smaller and lighter than a scope.
