WHISKEYSWAMP
Re: who works sick I usually go to work sick... I would much rather be miserable at work and get paid for it than sit at home and waste a day off...
HarvDog
Re: who works sick I try not to come in if a could infect someone else. Yesterday, I did have a terrible headache for the latter part of the day but the work still had to get done. Unfortunately, I wasn't much use when I finally got home. HuntingInMaine
Re: who works sick I work when sick...I am a single mother and need to save sick days for when my kids are really sick and can't go to school. So yes, I do take sick days, but not for my own illnesses.
RangerClay
Re: who works sick I get VERY annoyed if someone sick comes in and spreads it around. It is better to stay home and rest. The company will have to get just one sub instead of a bunch for all the people you infect. Ranger

TreeStandBowHunter
Re: who works sick All the time. I know I shouldn't cause it just spreads germs around but I have too much to do. Unless it is real bad, I am always at work. Can't remember the last time I was sick and had to take off. Probably a long time.
Alisha
Re: who works sick RangerClay - I feel the same way you do. There's nothing more annoying than someone coming in sick and spreading their germs around to everyone else. One woman on my shift comes in no matter how sick she is...... coughs her head off without covering her mouth, sneezes without covering her nose/mouth. Washes her hands with cold water - so she's not killing ANY germs. It never fails that I get sick a few days after she comes in hacking or whatever. VERY frustrating. You can tell her to cover her mouth, etc and she'll reply with........ "oh whatever, I'm not contagious." What'd she do, ask her cold if she was or not? Our entire shift had the flu one time because she brought it in to share with everyone. She NEVER goes to the doctor to get meds, so she's sick for a few weeks at least...... AUGGGGGGGGGGGH. Makes me mad just typing about it....... heh. So anyway - I **DO** call in when I'm sick.

Tominator
Re: who works sick If post sugery work counts as sick, yeah, I go to work sick. I took 3 days after my thyroidectomy. I'll never forget, the superintendent came down to see for herself that I was indeed back to work. She couldn't believe it. She didn't give me a raise or anything, but she couldn't believe I was back to work so soon. (ow, I think I just hurt myself patting my back) I didn't have a voice for well over a month, and teaching was pretty difficult when I didn't have a voice, but other than that, I felt fine. PAhardwoods
Re: who works sick I somehow get the worst case of the stomach flu once a year and i'm done for 4-5 days and usually end up having to get an IV because i cant keep anything down. Other then that i'm at work the rest of the year.......well untill hunting season rolls around ha Cody
Newarcher
Re: who works sick Me? Heck no. In fact, in my company the management has decreed that employees should use their sick days as personal days--against the groanings of the HR bums. We can use them as mental health days, fix the car or home days, etc. With the bulk of employeers having zero loyalty to the employees, I will not work sick. Now a sniffle is one thing but a serious cold or stomach woes and I will call in. In my line of work, there is nothing to be gained by being a hero any more. If a company became more loyal to me because of a good track record, sure. I tend to come to work with minor stuff that others call in sick for and use my sick days as extra vacation. I am still one of the least called in people in the department so I don't think twice about it. However, when I was younger, greener, and saw the employement world through rosier glasses, I worked like a dog. Just the way of the world. [/ QUOTE ] Me also... plus when I go to work sick...the other guys then get sick, call in sick and it creates overtime for me! I usually save my sick days for when I am healthy and want to do something with the family. J/K Although, I have been off sick for the last 2 weeks due to knee surgery. MUDRUNNER
Re: who works sick I hardly ever call in sick.Usually only if i'm thowing up.I am allowed to use sick days instead of vacation days during hunting season since i can't carry them over to the next year.I know how you feel.I just had a sinus infection and ear infection a few weeks ago.It took three weeks, three shots and 6 different meds to finally get over it. Jeramie
Re: who works sick Im sick of work..... Does that count? Im always at work. The first time I worked for the company, im working for again, I went 5-years with only one week under 40 hours. That was because my mom had heart surgery. c_lou
Re: who works sick If we have an infectios illness we HAVE to stay away for at least 24 hours. That's the joys of working in Healthcare. On that note I can't remember the last time I called in sick.
Guest Andrea
Re: who works sick I will stay at home if it's contagious. Not worth it to infect everyone else. Our office only has me, my father and his two crews. So if I came in and was sick...Dad would send me to the house!!! Can't afford to get anyone sick here cause we are EXTREMELY busy right now!!!!!! longislandhunter
Re: who works sick I usually go to work when I'm sick even though there are alot of times I'd like to stay home, unless like the other have said it's something that's contagious. No sense in everyone getting sick. As a supervisor I think it's important to try and "set the example" for your subordinates, however at the same time the people who work under my supervision all know that if they need a sick day then they can have it with no problems. SaskMan
Re: who works sick I've used 1 sick day in 3 years. It is way wore work for me to prepare for a substitute, plus I'd have to drive 15 miles to so, then go back home. That part of my job SUCKS!
