Guest Andrea
We should all pray for this man. (Even though we all know what his fate is probably going to be.) They are saying he is from Indiana. I know these guys are there to make money but I would never want my husband/son (anyone in my family) to go over there unless they were in the military. It's another sad situation. My question is this: Can these guys arm themselves? How are they being taken?
TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Another contractor kidnapped I been saying this from the start. We need to give the contractors guns, we need to give the media guns too. But the problem is, they are not allowed which is a crock of bull to me...but hey...I am not in charge here
Gator
Re: Another contractor kidnapped Nope, they can not arm themselves. I ain't sure how they get kidnapped either, seems to me they would be on "lockdown" unless they are driving in a convoy, which is very well possible. Media with guns, AHHH, an alterior motive!!!!! Do think the contractors should have some way to protect themselves though!
Guest Andrea
Re: Another contractor kidnapped My husband talked to a guy the other day who was fixing to ship out to Saudi. Said he and the guys he works with buy guns as soon as they get there. Said there would be no way they would work there without being armed. TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Another contractor kidnapped That may very well be but they are not allowed too though unless they have an actual permit from the country and everything else. They cannot interfere with the US Coalition rather they are protecting themselves or not just like the media. Convoys are where all this stuff is happening. It isin't like anybody is going out on liberty night out in the town or anything like that. They go to Kuwait for all that stuff.
wtnhunt
Re: Another contractor kidnapped Going over there in a situation you know is hostile is taking a huge risk. Is the money worth putting your family through something like this? Personally I would have to say it is not. An armed media, that is really scarey. stevebeilgard
Re: Another contractor kidnapped everyone knows, or should know by now, the risks involved. a personal weapon probably wouldn't help if you were kidnapped. these folks work in groups and carry automatic weapons. if i were going over there, i'd have a simple gps implant. can be done painlessly, if i'm a hostage, the professionals (our troops) would know exactly where i was. [/ QUOTE ] I never heard of that before. Seems pretty logical though. Makes you wonder why that isn't the norm anyway. (Oh wait...the ACLU would be all over that in a heartbeat.) They should do that to soldiers too. ( If they don't already)
