maddhunter
If I had the money I would go with the Browning 10ga. if it's not too heavy. I had a double barrel American Arms 10ga. and loved how it shot. It would deffinately out shoot any 3 1/2 12 I've ever shot. And by going with an automatic it shouldn't be that hard on the shoulder. The Browning 10ga. will deffinately be my next shotgun. I would also go with the scope

maytom
Re: Looking for new turkey gun input needed? I've been hearing very good reports on the Winchester X2. If I were to get a new turkey gun, this would be the one I'd go with!! Very dependable!!!
Guest gfourhunter
Re: Looking for new turkey gun input needed? i shoot the super x 2 and love it. it can be used for a all around gun. has no problem with light loads for doves and does great on waterfowl. with a comp-n-choke it does great for turkeys
snapper
Re: Looking for new turkey gun input needed? Can't go wrong with either gun you are considering IMO. Just about any turkey gun on the market will do the job...you just have to find what feels right and looks good to you. As far as scopes...I wouldn't have a turkey gun with out a scope. Some shotguns shoot straight right from the box...I would venture to say most don't. If the majority of your pattern is high/low, left/right...you can "sight" in your shotgun with a scope on it. No guess work...aim and shoot! Good luck with your new gun and welcome to the forums!
Guest ketchum
Re: Looking for new turkey gun input needed? If you don't mind the extra weight a 10 is fine. Look at the Benelli steady grip turkey gun. It's a real turkey gun. As far as a scope, IMO it's the only way to go.
Strut10
Re: Looking for new turkey gun input needed? I've got both a BPS 10 ga. and a Super X2 set up to kill turkeys. The weight of the BPS 10 is not that horrible (around 9 1/2 lbs.). The autolaoder 10's will weigh a good bit more. But, believe me when I tell you, you do not want a 10 ga. pump to weigh any less!!! This gun will out-shoot any 3 1/2" 12 ga. I've ever owned........both with lead and steel. But the down side of the 10 is that it's more of a specialty gun than the 12. You probably won't wanna take the 10 for grouse or dove. The Super X2, IMHO, would be your better choice. It shoots very well with a XXX-Full Comp-N-Choke tube and it carries easier and kicks (a lot) less. It'll also handle low-brass for claybirds or small game. I would look into getting a matte black SX2 instead of the NWTF camo deal. You'll shave a ton of money off the pricetag. Mine's a black one and I've yet to have a turkey see it (before it was too late!!). I have mine set up with a B-Square saddlemount and a red-dot sight. Wonderfully simple turkey killin' machine. borch
Re: Looking for new turkey gun input needed? [ QUOTE ] Thanks for the input guys, Keep em coming. I think I have about talked myself out of a 10GA. The extra wt. is the main reason, also if I did want to use it for something else a 12 would be a little more versitile. I priced a Browning gold and a Win. super X2. The Browning is 1100, and the Win is 985. The Win looks good with some money left over for a scope. [/ QUOTE ] Actually if you look around and are willing to have a gun shipped to an FFL you can trim $200-250 off(including the shipping and FFL fee) the NWTF 3 1/2", 24" barrel. There's one on Auction Arms as we speak.
Strut10
Re: Looking for new turkey gun input needed? Tater....... If you're sold on a 24" barrel, then you'll probably have to go with the NWTF deal. My SX2 is a 26-incher and it handles quite well in the turkey woods. I believe I paid $675 for it. Guest DaHunter
Re: Looking for new turkey gun input needed? I have the browning gold lite 10 guage, its just the feel of the 10 guage that i love....i am setting it up with a nikon prostaff 2-7x camo scope. Also I just got my nitro/Rhino combo in for it, so i cant wait too get out there and shoot it. I love the feel of the dura-touch thats really sweet. Its really not that heavy at all, i am 19 and a steel mill worker also, lol. If your not going with this look into the remington 11-87 super mag, thats a great gun also mines got a kicks choke and it puts a hurting on the turkeys. Trust me you wont be disappointed with that browning...i also paid 1100 for it.
