Re: treestand heights....

I put my stand about 20 to 25 feet up...depends on the shooting lanes and angle to the trail or food I am hunting.

i do what i can handle, what i mean by handle is how high i can go without getting scarred. im afraid of heights and i try not to be but i cant help it mad.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

Nothing wrong with being scared!

I am terrified of heights. But my personality is to confront my fear...So I became a climbing instructor. shocked.gif Im still nervous about heights but now I can get things done without the height stopping me. grin.gif

That may not be the answer for you smile.gif but if you are interested in feeling more comfortable then take your stand out more often and just keep moving it higher. Like Rhubee said, trusting your stand has a lot to do with how comfortable you will be out there...and the more comfortable you are the more accurate your shots will be. laugh.gif

nope there isnt, a fall would suck, it would suck bad.....QUESTION~ would you rather fall out of a stand and hit the ground, or dangle by your harness for hours waiting for someine to find you?

[/ QUOTE ] If your harness is adjusted right you shouldn't fall far enough to be totaly off the stand and should climb back in it...if it is long enough you just dangle you are taking a big risk of breaking something when you fall...either on you or your harness...

Re: treestand heights....

i go about 20-25 feet or just in cover line of the trees. the wind also plays a big part of how high i go. flat ground or hills and hollers plays a big part to.

When you have your harness adjusted properly....your feet will be able to touch the platform of your treestand without any trouble.

Your restraint should have already stopped you when you become even slightly lower than your seat height. When you are sitting your harness should be comfortable but leave no slack to go any further downward....therefore should you fall asleep or slip while moving around you will never have a problem placing your feet back on the treestands platform.

My treestand height is exactly what Orion70 described!!!

you get too high and sometimes it cuts down what you can see...too low and you may as well just stand on the ground!

Re: treestand heights....

I've hunted from 10 to 25 depending on cover. The buck I shot this was at 2yds behind me and I 12 feet up in the thicket from ****. The canopy was 8 feet so I was above it. I was in a big tulip popular wider than my shoulders. In hard woods I go to get out of line sight.
