Question about the draft???

One of the Democrats/Kerry campaign's latest scare tactics is telling moms and college kids Bush will reinstate the draft. Bush looked directly into the camera during the debates and said it ain't so. I tend to believe him. An "all volunteer" army is the best you can field. But in the same debates, Kerry said (on more than one occasion) that he'd add two more divisions to the army. Recruitments, right now, are way down.........naturally. So far as I know, the Army is not turning down anyone that can pass the required tests. So how's Kerry going to get 40,000 or so extra bodies into the Army in 4 years without instituting a draft??

Anybody??

Re: Question about the draft???

This has been cussed and discussed, but Kerry/Dems are using it as a scare tactic but when you read the bill it was a bill sponsored by the democrats. It also failed to pass. So, you're right, the only way Kerry can raise recruitment that much is to get it sponsored again and passed. But, as long as the republicans control Capitol Hill it's a dead issue.

Once again, that bill in question, sponsored by Charles Rangel, was even voted against by himself. I read some other reasons for it in the paper today, one was trying to get support for the war down, there were some other reasons also, but I threw the paper away.

Re: Question about the draft???

Actually fact of the matter is that the idea of a draft was brought about by democrats and shot down by the Bush administration. John Kerry is turning this around, and most people will not check this out, but it was actually Kerry and his people who supported the idea of a draft. Pretty sad how he is using that against Bush.

Is my keyboard working correctly? Go to factcheck.org and type in Draft Bill in the search engine, cause apparently you don't hear me when I tell you. That bill was brought up before the war, it wasn't intended as serious and noone has even pushed for it and the sponsor of the bill voted against the thing. Say what you want about Kerry talking about the draft or whatever, but quit bringing up this fictitious story about how the Democrats are pushing for it.

So then, the Democrats were bringing a bill that they had no intention in passing. This is at best waisting time on the senate/house floor, blowing Millions of $$ on paper, clarical work, and the cost of thier salerys. And this is all being spent because they are trying to make a silly point.

That's a party I want to support. mad.gif

Its the equivilant of a little kid screaming until they get there way.

Sorry bud, it is a free world I will speak my mind and will not be told by you what to and not to say. As for the democrats sponsorship and support of this idea of the draft, I heard that on the NBC nightly news. Guess they are making it up.

The issue here is that John Kerry is attempting to lead people to believe that George Bush will reinstate a draft. Kerry has in fact made remarks leading to this, dont tell me he has not, I watched the words come out of his mouth.

George Bush has said he will not, and I personally dont believe he will.

Quit bringing up the fictitious story about how the dems are pushing for it? What about Kerry quit pushing the fictitious story that Bush is pushing for it and admitting it was all a democratic joke to waste time and money to begin with and that he lied when he said Bush pushing for the draft. Even after the issue has been exposed for what it is he still says Bush is going to re-instate the draft. I guess, if the lie works, keeps using it.

Re: Question about the draft???

Kerry said he would increase the numbers by 40,000. That may be true. But I'd like to see what context that was taken from. With his way of words, could he mean add 40,000 troops to Iraq? Or add 40,000 additional manning positions to the Army? If I remember right, that takes an okay from Congress to adjust the manning levels. If so, Kerry can "want" all he wants. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Question about the draft???

Not to intent that anyone posting in here would or woulnt go if drafted, The question is are you willing to support your country without any questions asked in her defense ?? I feel comfortable asking this due to the fact that I served her for six years as an MP in the U.S Army and 6 months of this active duty was in Grenada. And aslo my brother serving 8 years in the Air Force also seving time in tne first Gulf War. I think It's a Mute point as to who posed bring back the draft, but if you are willing to defend your country if needed. Remember this if we are sending men and women to Iraq and Afghanastan who is replacing them here state side. But again this is only a obsevation made by me and not intented to insult anyone here... And I make it well known that I support Bush as President of our great Nation that still stands Free..
