redbeard
Slipped out this mornin' to check my North Georgia mountain honey hole. Was a nice mornin', clear and crisp. I eased thru a big oak forest trying to get just above the steep side. Got there, decided to sit and wait for gobbles. Just as I squatted up against an oak, I hear turkeys cluckin'. I yelped back and man they started cuttin', cluckin', cacklin' up a storm. Finally light enough to see, I see a hen perched on a tree not 60 yards to my left. I'm lookin' hard for a swayin' beard but saw none. After I conversed with those talkative hens awhile, they flew down, way down, into the bottoms. Heard no gobbles and since I was supposed to be workin', I headed back. Stopped at a local feed store to buy some Kennebeck potatoes ( the best tastin' potatoe in the whole world). Was going to the truck to get the plastic to pay for the seed tators when an old farmer said, "You paid fer them tators yet", I replied no. He said follow me and I'll give you a whole sack. Took me to his house and sure enough gave me a sack twice as big as the 20.00 bag I'd would have bought at the feed store. Wouldn't take nuthin' for 'em. Good folks are everywhere, especially easy to find when you get outa the city. Now if I can just get Whitehead to plant 'em in his wifes garden, I'll be set. James7xChamp3
Re: Still not green enough in the mountains Getting me hungry Redbeard! I love taders! Whenever I go camping, whether it be hunting or fishing I never leave home without them! Nothing Like taders and trout or taders and venison cooked outdoors! Taders and turkey are sounding pretty good! That's a great deal, and you're right......there are a lot of good people in the the world! Makes it easy to forget the bad ones.
