Reloader
Well we keep trying to compare Leupold vs ... no constraints what does everyone use? Ive got a BSA 4x on my 22LR and a Leupold 2-7x carbine M8 i think it is on my 30-06 The Luepold came with the rifle and the BSA i got because it is just a plinking gun and I didn't have the cash for anything better.... Thinking about upgrading the scope on the '06 with a VX I 4-12x and moving the M8 to the 22...once I can save up $250... I will admit I like Leupold primarily because I have almost no experince with anything else...

tedicast
Re: What scope do you prefer? Bushnell 3200 Elite series, or Nikon ProStaff series. These are two of the best lines of scopes for the money in my opinion.

Norm Sauceman
Re: What scope do you prefer? I found this guy in E-Bay and will be trying a few of his scopes out. AJ
Re: What scope do you prefer? I have at least one of the following in my safe: Redfield, Tasco, Simmons, Leupold, Premier Reticles, Cabelas Alaskan Guide, Burris, Nikon, Weaver, Sightron, and Bushnell. I have had problems with Bushnell, Simmons, and Leupold. My favorite is one that holds zero. I can put up with slightly darker optics, or a scope that does not give a perfect true to life crisp image, as long as it puts the bullet where the reticle intersects, it is fine with me. iron buck
Re: What scope do you prefer? I have owned Burris, Simmons, Tasco, Bushnell, Nikon, Redfield & Leupold Scopes. I will NEVER buy another Simmons or Tasco product because of bad experiences with bothbrands in the past. Today, 95% of my rifles wear Leupolds. I do still have (2) REdfields and (1) Bushnell. Even though they do cost as much or more than the rifles I put them on, Given the choice, today I always buy Leupold. I have yet to have a problem with any Leupold scope, and I have them mounted on hard kickers like my 12 gauge slug gun, 375 HH mag, 338 Win mag and both my 300 mags. I also have the piece of mind knowing that they have the best warrenty you could ask for in the event that an issure would occur. Ny Leupolds have proven themselves through many hunts, many rounds and many range sessions. They hold zero. They have stayed waterproof & fogproof. They hold zero. (I said this twice because the scopes I no longer use had major problems in this area) They are as clear as any scope would need to be for legal hunting hours. And they are accurate throughout power changes. Simply the best!........that I can afford
LifeNRA
Re: What scope do you prefer? Nikon Monarch on top of my .270, holds zero for the last 8 years! Everytime I hit the range I never have to move it!
Strut10
Re: What scope do you prefer? I have Weaver Grand Slam, Burris Signature, Weaver V-Series, Redfield and BSA. I have listed them in order of my personal preference. I have not had any problems of any kind with any of them. Some are just brighter, clearer and better designed than others. AJ
Re: What scope do you prefer? [ QUOTE ] Lets look past scopes and consider the optics! How long do you use your spotting scopes and binoculars in a given day? In what conditions? Same tech? Dan [/ QUOTE ] Good question Dan. My optics use depends on what type of hunting I am doing. For most of my east coast hunting, I rarely us binoculars. I use them mainly to verify the doe is not a button buck before it gets shot. I carry a small and cheap pair of Tasco's for that. When I am varmint hunting, I use them a lot. I am scanning for a target and then switch to the range finder. I used my binocs more when I hunted elk as it was a huge meadow to watch and the distances were out there. I occasionally use my spot scope for varmint hunting, but its mainly to verify what I see in my binocs at long range (usually over 300 yards). My main use for a spot scope is to verify something with high magnification. Mainly its limited to range duty. I can see the tiny .17 caliber holes at 200 yards with my spotter. If I am scouting I use binocs and spot scope as I will sit and overlook a field.
too_pointer
Re: What scope do you prefer? I use my Bushnell 8x42 binos alot while hunting. Most of my hunting is in the woods and not over fields. I also use my Nikon 3x9 scope mostly after I have spotted an animal. My spotting scope is used just for range practice. Since the vast majority of my hunting is around 100' or so, my scope and binos fit my need. I would have to upgrade some if a trip out west ever presented itself too_pointer
iron buck
Re: What scope do you prefer? I have & use mid grade binos. I have several Bushnels an 8x25 & 10x40 Trophy series. They are OK at best. I have a decent pair of Baush & Lombs 10x40s. They are better.......but not by much. I have a bushnell 500 yard range finder that is at least 5 years old now. And a absolute piece of junk Tasco spotting scope that is good enough for 100 yard range duty on good days. I need to get better glass for binos & spotting scopes. I'd love to get a pair of Zeiss 10x40s & a Nikon 10-47 spotting scope (I think that is the range) It is the Nikon spotting package that is weatherproof & light. Not as nice as the Leica (sp?) that I looked through........but it is the best I can afford.

7th
Re: What scope do you prefer? I have blew up 3 lupols (no I do not like them) on M-24s and seem to be sighting them in all the time. On my M-24 I have a 4.5X14X40 and every time I take it out of the arms room I have to sight it in again. The same thing for the other M-24 on my team. The one on the M-82 .50 cal is so iradic that I would never us it. For all my Mags (7MM Rem. .300 Win. and WSM) I have Simmons 6.5X20X50 and can shoot sub MOA. I will not get a trashco and after what I went though with lupol and then my cusion got one for his 300 Win Mag Sendero and after they sent him the 4th one by Fed-X it would hold a zero. I have a 10X60 Swarskie binos from the army and if I had $1,500 to though away, I would own one but till then, I will use the Simmons and see if I can get a Swarskie for my M-24. Frank.
