Re: Peanut Butter?

I took a plastic jar of peanut butter and screwed the cover to a tree then cut out the bottom and screwed it back on. I then placed a trailcam at that location, I have a few pics of a doe stretching her neck out to lick the jar. I was very surprised. I dont use it a lot but did to just test it out.

Yep, deer love the stuff. I have done it in the past to get pics of deer but the bears were taking all of it. Did just like antlers 21 did. Screw the lid to a tree with screws and cut the bottom out of the jar.

Re: Peanut Butter?

I keep a jar in beside my tree and I smear it on the sides of the trees and they eat the bark off. Anyway end of season last year last day I left the jar laying out wide open. Forgot about it came back a week later and they had cleaned the whole jar out. I mean you could see thru the jar!!!!!!! By the way any peanut butter will do. I buy the cheapest I can find and then I smear it on the tree and pack it with corn and milo.

Re: Peanut Butter?

rhubee: Baiting is not legal in MN: Plain and simple, you can put food out, but if it is used to entice animals into you, it is not legal: You are right that you have to be so far from baited areas, etc....but be very careful: As you have to be out of site from any area considered "baited" if you are wearing blaze orange, and can be seen from any "baited" area you are not legal and will be ticketed: Just wanted to point it out.
