bulldawg
A few years back, when baiting was legal around here, I bought a peanut butter deer sucker, and tied it so the deer could get at it. They ate it up before I could hunt by it!
popgun
Re: Peanut Butter? I tried it once, attaching it to the side of a tree. I never saw any sign that the deer liked my brand (Skippy smooth), but I attracted every raccoon within a hundred miles to that one site. .....popgun
Guest antlers21
Re: Peanut Butter? I took a plastic jar of peanut butter and screwed the cover to a tree then cut out the bottom and screwed it back on. I then placed a trailcam at that location, I have a few pics of a doe stretching her neck out to lick the jar. I was very surprised. I dont use it a lot but did to just test it out. AJ
Re: Peanut Butter? Yep, deer love the stuff. I have done it in the past to get pics of deer but the bears were taking all of it. Did just like antlers 21 did. Screw the lid to a tree with screws and cut the bottom out of the jar.
Orion_70
Re: Peanut Butter? Same method here, screw the lid to the side of a tree and cut the bottom out. I've also just smeared it on the side of a small tree. The completely ate the bark off of it. They love the stuff, then again so do the raccoons

Shaun_300
Re: Peanut Butter? i've never tried it either, but i bet it would work good. no baiting deer allowed here in Ontario though. it'd be cool just to put it out on the edge of the treeline and watch them eat in the offseason though it'd also be good squirrel and coon bait! too_pointer
Re: Peanut Butter? I tried it a few times, just smearing some on the side of a tree. I can't say I shot a deer with it, but it was gone pretty fast. We have no baiting here anymore, so I guess I'm done trying it !! too_

preacherman
Re: Peanut Butter? Never hunt over it, but have put it on the side of a tree and have had the bark licked off. It works in Mississippi!
Rhino
Re: Peanut Butter? We can't do it here. It's considered baiting and baiting is illegal in this state.
hutchies
Re: Peanut Butter? I keep a jar in beside my tree and I smear it on the sides of the trees and they eat the bark off. Anyway end of season last year last day I left the jar laying out wide open. Forgot about it came back a week later and they had cleaned the whole jar out. I mean you could see thru the jar!!!!!!! By the way any peanut butter will do. I buy the cheapest I can find and then I smear it on the tree and pack it with corn and milo.
birddog
Re: Peanut Butter? rhubee: Baiting is not legal in MN: Plain and simple, you can put food out, but if it is used to entice animals into you, it is not legal: You are right that you have to be so far from baited areas, etc....but be very careful: As you have to be out of site from any area considered "baited" if you are wearing blaze orange, and can be seen from any "baited" area you are not legal and will be ticketed: Just wanted to point it out.
