Mach1 Posted April 17, 2005 Report Share Posted April 17, 2005 Does anybody use a range finder when turkey hunting to range landmarks, etc. around where you've setup? Obviously it would be difficult to range a sighted turkey and get away with it. Would it matter if you're hunting with a gun or bow? I'm not sure if I should take mine out when I go. Turkeys are notoriously hard to put a distance on. And when a few yards can make a difference in a shotgun pattern that will smoke a tom and one that will cripple him, it's very important that you know the yardage. This will be my first year hunting turkeys with a bow.I can definately see how it would be beneficial for bowhunting.With my 3 1/2 inch turkey loads it really makes no difference to me wether they are 10 yards or 50 yards. I got a Nikon Team Realtree Laser 440 for Christmas and I haven't really had a chance to use it in the field. It will be with me when I head out to the turkey woods on Saturday and Sunday.
