JimT
Sort of. Have a little more work to do. Tried the new flight control stuff from Federal. They were not very good at all using an extra full unported choke. Switched to Remington Nitros and from 20 yards the bird would be headless. Out to 40 yards I went and only got 11 pellets in the kill zones. Would like to see a little more than that, so I will switch to my Comp-N-Choke this week and see what happens. Pretty fun but brutal on the shoulder eh.......

James7xChamp3
Re: Patterned my Gun... Jim, When you say 11 pellets in the kill zone, are you talking just the spine and brain? If so, I'd say that is pretty good at 40 for 3". I too am very happy with the Remington Nitros. I wnet thru 40 rounds today between 3 guns trying different combos. The Remington Notros #5 1 7/8 oz. shot best in my Encore (11-13 pellets in the kill zone at 38 yds). Federal Premium FC's #5 2 1/4 oz. shot best in my 835 (12-14 in the kill zone). Both these loads out did the Hevi Shot.
JimT
Re: Patterned my Gun... Ya...the spine, brains, and trachea? I think it is. You shot 40 times? OUCH! I shot maybe 15-18 and had enough.
borch
Re: Patterned my Gun... Let us know how the cnc does. Mine actually likes the fed. FC #5 best. I was surprised with the wad stripping properties of the cnc tubes. If the shoulder is sore use a piece of carpet or a sweatshirt folded up between your shoulder and the gun. It does help. Mach1
Re: Patterned my Gun... Last weekend I shot my 870 using 3 1/2 Rem. Heavy Shot and put 107 pellets in the head at 30 yds. No joke. I was amazed. Went to 40, and put 15 in the head. At 50 I had 8.
LifeNRA
Re: Patterned my Gun... Strut has the ticket! Winchester Supreme's #6 and a CNC XXX Full choke. Although I believe he might be using a 3" shell, not sure. I use the same ammo but the 3.5" shell. Great pattern from the CNC too. 49 head and neck hits at 40 yards!
