I've never got one but do have a permit this year and know a really hot spot. There's a huge turkey there!! His beards draggin on the ground! Guest outdoorgirl Posted April 18, 2005 Report Share Posted April 18, 2005 Re: How big is your... mine was....you ready for this !! 42 lbs with a 11 3/4 inch beard ....ok ok it was our pet turkey ...he was a big old tom.....he went out in style ....he was mating with the hen and had a heart attack and died right in front of my boyfriend.....he went inside the chicken coop to collect the eggs and he heard a thump thump thump and when he went to go see what happen he saw the big old boy dead just laying their...he said he had been mating with the hen when he saw him last.....so i guess he went out of this world with a smile on his beak. we have his beard hanging in the livingroom......lol.....i have never turkey hunted but will this coming may 1st....but don't you know i get a jury summons in the mail and i have to go may 2nd !! I didn't use to weigh my birds at all but the heaviest one I weighed was 21.5#. The longest beard was a double bearded bird with a 11 3/4" beard and a 9" beard.
