PAbowhunter4life
Down here in Allegheny County I have the luxury of hunting a lot of private land that as a lot of you know hold some NICE bucks that I have shown in pictures before. I am not disappointed this year as there are 4 P&Y bucks that I am well aware of, & 2 are absolute HAWGS!!! Anyway, none of them have shown up yet, just a lot of does & young bucks. The oddest thing to me is the fact that I haven't even found a rub yet on any of the land I hunt. The BIG tracks are still there, but usually by now I have seen some rubs and what not. What's it like in the rest of PA?

PAbowhunter4life
Re: PA Archers..... How\'s the season so far??? Yeah, it's a curse lol............. In all seriousness though I am blessed with some great hunting area. My buddy took an 8 point last year off one of the areas I hunt that netted 143 and some change, a beautiful animal by every aspect. Well, one of the 2 HAWGS I have seen this year blows that 8 away, the other one is just about the same size. So, hopefully they follow their nose to disaster this fall, we'll see. Good luck the rest of the season!
PAbowhunter4life
Re: PA Archers..... How\'s the season so far??? Congrats on the buck bud!!! You are about 20 minutes from me in Wexford. Anywho, yeah, they won't really start moving much until next weekend (the 30th), give or take a few days, but come the first week of November, all that will change. Hopefully one of the ones I want follows it's nose to within 40 yards or so of my stand. Good luck the rest of the year bud.
buckbuster11
Re: PA Archers..... How\'s the season so far??? I had the slowest start to the season I can ever remember. But, I think things are heating up a little early this year. I shot a 9 point on Monday that was chasing a doe with 2 other bucks. I also know two guys that took 8 pointers yesterday after having slow starts to their seasons as well. Last night while spotting almost every single buck I saw was in serious chase mode on the does. In the next couple of weeks it's going to be getting pretty good I think.
007hunter
Re: PA Archers..... How\'s the season so far??? I got a doe last friday but other than that its been slow for the most part. Been seeing mostly does and small bucks. The biggest buck I've seen was a 7 point. but things are gonna heat up soon...
buckbuster11
Re: PA Archers..... How\'s the season so far??? [ QUOTE ] Is anyone having luck with rattling, calls, or scents. If you put a doe n heat scent out to early does it effect your hunt negatively? I put it out more or less as a cover scent [/ QUOTE ] I grunted the buck I shot on Monday right in. This is probably a good time to try scents too, I think the bucks are ready to go...there just aren't any hot does yet. If one gets a good whiff of your scent you might just pull him in. TreeStandBowHunter
Re: PA Archers..... How\'s the season so far??? I came home up to PA the first week of archery and filled 2/3 of my doe tags. I still have my DMAP tag and my buck tag. I will be back up the last week of archery and first week of rifle to finish the job!!!
