Alisha
Re: Moose .vs. Car with pics I'm kinda shocked the front end of the car isn't tore up more. Almost looks like the thing leaped(?) into the windshield, pretty much missing the front end of the car. Still yet - that's insane.

Shaun_300
Re: Moose .vs. Car with pics [ QUOTE ] how fast was she goin [/ QUOTE ] South River is on Highway 11 between North Bay and Huntsville. i believe that stretch of highway, the speed limit is either 80 or 90. and we drive usually between 20 and 30 over, so she was probably going between 100 and 120.... 62-75mph for the Americans either way, at 30mph or 100mph, that would have HURT! robk
Re: Moose .vs. Car with pics the moose was much taller than the car that is why the front end didn't get it worse and if you notice the windshield and top of the car took the impact and probably saved the driver rob k

HuntingInMaine
Re: Moose .vs. Car with pics I saw these pictures about a year ago, so I wonder if the story that came with it is accurate (at least the date that it happened) ? I would love to know for sure because I have wondered if someone survived. (Unless this has happened twice??) I hit a moose one night, but thankfully it wasn't quite that bad. He ran across the road in front of me and I was doing about 45 mph because of fog (thank God!). I hit him with the driver side corner of my 1991 chevy cavalier and he slid up the hood of my car and through my windshield. It is VERY scary to have a moose just inches from your face and I will never forget the low, deep sound he made as all the air was knocked out of him. Lucky for him he ran back across the road and into the woods where he came from. Lucky for me I only had some scratches on my legs from brushing off glass and needed a new windshield. Aside from a couple of little "moose marks", the car was fine! I have also hit a deer, but he wasn't quite so lucky...I am still teased around town about these accidents and they want to know when I will be "getting" my bear! Guest BuckMaster058
Re: Moose .vs. Car with pics Wow, and both drivers came out unscathed that is messed up. Not everyday a deer or moose jumps through your window.
DSGB
Re: Moose .vs. Car with pics This is from Snopes.com. A North Bay-area woman suffered only minor injuries after a bull moose shot through her windshield and out the rear window over the weekend. "I am extremely lucky and very glad to be here," said Bernice Clayton-Seca, a 53 year-old educational assistant from Sundridge. Clayton-Seca hit the moose near South River, 50 km south of North Bay, while driving home late Friday night on Hwy. 11 from North Bay. "I knew moose were in the area, so I had my high beams on, and was looking out for them," she said. "But at the last minute I saw his legs." The collision sent the moose ripping through the windshield of the 1999 Chevy Lumina, tearing off the roof of the car, and exiting head and shoulders through the back window. "My husband was driving behind me so he stopped immediately, and lots of people stopped to help," Clayton-Seca said. "It was wonderful to have all that help." Clayton-Seca was taken by ambulance to North Bay General hospital for minor injuries, a broken hand, and a few cuts and bruises. The moose was not so lucky. It died from its injuries.
