Yesterday morning I twised my knee, Just walking to other side of our shop. I didn't think much about it at that time....

Well at 3am. this morning my knee is like a balloon and it fill's like I have a knife in it.....

When I got up and went to take a step. Man I hit the floorand hard. I felt like a beached whale.I woke the wife up and at that time she standing there looking down at me, saying "What are you doing on the floor".

Wife is wanting me to go to the Doctor and I said "NO WAY"!!!!!!

Heck I'll take me some tylenol and I should be as good as gold...

I hope....

I had a Doctor tell me years ago that this was going to happen and he was wanting to do surgery on my knees and I said "NOPE"!!!!

I'm not looking forward to seeing the Doctor again, to hear I told you so as he schedules me in for surgery.....

Has anyone else have or had knee problems or even had surgery on your knee....

Re: Oh Man What Pain...Now That Hurts!!!!!!!!

I have had major issues with the knees, and have avoided the knife before...but my buddies have not been so lucky, but did get a specialist, and he did a great job, and the guy is as good as new....Ill bet you'll need the surgery soon enough.....wrap it for now, or get a brace on it, and I recommend a product called Biofreeze, its in a small white and green tube at a sports shop, that really helps......al

It sounds like you are going to have to break down and go to the doctor before you do even more damage, which may lead to a permanent problem. My brother had his knee operated on after blowing something out (can't for the life of me remember what it was), but they did an orthoscopic outpatient surgery and had to stay off it for a couple days. It healed quickly and he hasn't had any problems with it since.

Re: Oh Man What Pain...Now That Hurts!!!!!!!!

I have had problems with my knees for years, and I never wanted to go to the doctor. I couldn't even straighten my legs out unless I was laying on my belly on the floor. Anyway I had torn cartledge(sp?). The doctor cleaned me up and after being gimpy for about a week, I felt like a million bucks!!! You do have to take it easy thought, I think that I tore my knee up again and I am probably going to have to go back. confused.gif

Re: Oh Man What Pain...Now That Hurts!!!!!!!!

Dale you better get it checked out bud.

Mom just had surgery last week because she waited to long. Years ago she fell on some ice and messed up here knee. She was afraid to go to the doc. She favored that knee for years. Finally the other knee got bad too. She loaded up and finally got checked out. She had favored the first injury so long she actually tore cartilage in two places in the other.

Its nothing to mess around with. She is still limping a little from her surgery but she is a diabetic. It will take her longer to heal. When that knee is 100% she is going to have the other overhauled.

Re: Oh Man What Pain...Now That Hurts!!!!!!!!

I have had so many surgeries on my legs and knees, I don't know where to start!

First off, DON"T mess around and get to a GOOD orthopedic surgeron. I have been to dozens of them in my lifetime and there are a bunch of quakes out there!

If you go in soon enough, most of the time they can just clean it up and it isn't a big thing. If you wait and then really tear the cartlidge, you are in for some major surgery and physical theraphy.

I have also had a total knee replacement and the best thing about it is that it ended some major pain!!

Good luck and get to the doctor!

Re: Oh Man What Pain...Now That Hurts!!!!!!!!

Yup!!! I blew my knee out 4th football game of my senior season in high school last year. I was blocking a guy twice my size and had my foot planted and somebody hit the outside of my knee and it buckled in. I ended up tearing my ACL and MCL completely off the bone. The MCL healed itself since the tear was at the bottom. But that took several months in a knee immobilizer. Then I had surgery to completely replace my ACL last December 23rd. It was about a 5 hour surgery. They went in and cut 1/3 of my petellar tendon and made that into a graft, then screwed it into the top and bottom half of my knee joint and that is now working as my ACL. Then I got an infection and had to go in for another surgery 2 weeks later where they had to go in and flush the infection out and clean it out then sewed it back together. The surgery part wasnt that bad, it was the rehab afterwards that was killer. During and after surgery they have advanced so much in pain killers that you dont feel a thing until they wear off and thats about a week after surgery. I had what they call a pain buster. Its a pouch that you wear on your hip with medicine, then it has a tube going into your mid-thigh area and that pouch constantly drips medicine into your knee to keep it numb for 4 or 5 days after surgery. To this day, I still have problems with my knee, i dont have full range of motion and never will and i can no longer kneel on my left knee, also have pains now and then. But im sure it would be much worse if i didnt have the surgery. I would definately go see a doctor and if he reccommends surgery I would go for it. He can only make things better. And remember your knees are you most important joints you have. You dont want them to be messed up forever.

Re: Oh Man What Pain...Now That Hurts!!!!!!!!

griz I'm sort of in the same boat as you are. I'm trying to get my right knee to last through next spring's turkey season. I've come close to hitting the floor a few times but I found something to get a hold of and get my good leg under me.

My best friend went through knee surgery on both knees this past summer. He wished he had done it sooner. Piece of cake according to him. He was walking in no time and was essentially back to normal in about a month. His knees are better now than they've been in years. He's an old fart like us too. wink.gifgrin.gif
