This one isnt going anywhere. Tried out those Flight Control #5's the other day. They do seem to be a bit louder and kick a hair more than rem hevishot and winchesters. This is the 3 1/2 load at 40yds thru a madmax choke. 13054CIMG1069-med.JPG [/image]

Re: Pics of Dead Turk Target

Lil more info. The other night I tried to order a Rhino/Nitro combo from wingsupply for my SBE 1 and left a comment stating to make sure it was the choke for the SBE1 and not the SBE2. They called the next morning and said they only offer 2 chokes and they both were for the SBE2 and they said it'd be 2 wks before they get the nitro in. So I just asked them to cancel my order. So happy I did now. I'd take lead 5's over the "dove load" of 7 1/2's any day. But I do admit ur guys targets sure look nice with those million holes in them.

Re: Pics of Dead Turk Target

What constriction is the mad max you are shooting? I shoot the .655 in my 870 and have switched to #6's instead of #5s in the Win. HV loads and was wanting to try the Flight Controls but can only find #5s. . . . was looking for #6s but it looks like i might need to try the #5s.

Re: Pics of Dead Turk Target

LMAO.............. dove shells huh. Good god, ignorance is bliss.

I shoot the Nitro shell and if there was a better shell on the market, I'd shoot it. Just another guy who doesn't want to spend the money for real performance and has to bash the expense of the Nitro/Rhino combo to make himself feel good.

Good on ya bud, nice target. My "dove loads" put holes straight through wooden skids @ 40 yards and I get 337 BB's in a 10" circle. Oh, by the way, you do know thet Hevi 7's have the equivalent power of a lead 5, right? Not to mention that at 40 yards there is still PLENTY of Hevi 4 & 5 shot in the head of my turkey targets.

Oh, and by the way, half of your BB's are outside the 10" circle, so be sure to count only the ones inside like I did.

Re: Pics of Dead Turk Target

Alright guys, enough of the bashing of the shells, chokes guns, etc that others choose to use. What works for them, works for them. We all want a good pattern to ethicly kill a turkey when we pull the trigger at whatever distance we choose. But sometimes it just seems like it's a competion to see who can get the most shot in a kill zone or 10" circle at 40 yards. Not all of us shoot at turkeys that far.

BTW, 7 1/2 lead was used as a turkey load by several hunters in magnum loads until recently(some still use it when they can find it or load it themselves). All the major manufacturers made it at one time with federal being the last to discontinue the load two years ago. Hevishot is heavier than lead and in this case loaded with a magnum charge. So it's not necessarily fair or accurate to refer to it as a dove load which we all know is a light charge/load of fine shot in a 2 3/4 shell.

Now lets get back to turkey hunting. laugh.gif

Re: Pics of Dead Turk Target

All I said was I'm glad I didn't need to spend the extra money to get a nice pattern out of my gun. For 10 bucks I can plant 10 turkeys down to the ground with no trouble. I don't mind spending the extra money on the rhino/nitro or else I wouldn't of said I called them up and tried to order the combo. But a dead turkeys a dead turkey. I'm not trying to win any contests or whatever your thinkin'. And I'm glad there are a few BB's outside the 10" circle just in case the wind is blowing hard or I get the twitch.haha.

Sorry bud, wasn't trying to twist your medulla. Like I said, if ya need to spend the money on them to get a nice looking target, then do it. Better than missing a bird. Nitro doesn't give me any benefit to the shell I'm shooting now.

Re: Pics of Dead Turk Target

I agree, dead is dead, but my point is that people get on here that have never shot products and just bash them since they won't spend the money on them. If you have the "this is good enough" attitude, then that's fine, but don't bash those who want the best.

I have heard god knows how many people call Nitros dove loads, weak etc. What baffles me is at 40 yards my Nitros have blown small slabs of wood off the skids the target was on. I NEVER had any other shell do that, and I have shot everything from 6's to 4's. Some of them have moved the skid at 40 yards, but none of them have ever done what the Nitro shellss have done with my testing. Tests have shown that Hevi 7's will penetrate just as well as lead 5's, yet people seem to somehow overlook that, and they also seem to overlook all of the HEVI 4's & 5's that are in the center of the pattern too.

I apologize for going off the way I did, but I just get sick and tired of people bashing products that they have no clue about. If you want a cheaper way out then by all means yes, there are a TON of alternatives, but don't bash the best going shell & choke combo on the market for the sake of trying to justify not wanting to spend the money.
