wtnhunt
May seem like a stupid question. Kind of curious what everyone uses. The little wrench that came with my black diamond broke and I have some older 12 point ignition and standard box end wrenches that just dont quite seem to fit very well with the scope attached. A socket can be manipulated to fit if using a standard nipple and an extension fits out the end, but not with a 209 primer. Maybe I need to pick up a 6 point ignition wrench? Any suggestions? David_218
Re: breech plug wrenches? [ QUOTE ] I do the same as David, must remove the primer plug before removing the breech plug, however. [/ QUOTE ] I also remove the "Primer plug" first and then the Breech plug. I find that a rachet wrench with a small extension rod allows more even torque, and it is easy to remove the primer & Breech plugs.
wtnhunt
Re: breech plug wrenches? My 1/4 drive socket(craftsman) will not fit in the reciever area with the primer plug in place. Can use them with extensions for just the breech plug. I did find an old longer box end wrench in my box that has an angled head and it fits better. Can also use it without taking the scope off. [/ QUOTE ] I use one of those cheap smaller ratchet wrench that are normally much smaller in diameter than your Craftsman. With my Black Diamond, I have to place the socket into place first, and insert the extension rod, then I can remove the primer (209) plug and then the Breech Plug itself. tedicast
Re: breech plug wrenches? I use a 1/4 drive ratchet, with a 7/16 deep socket on my Encore, works great, and its much sturdier than the factory "wrench".
