RyanH
Hey guys what do you preffer on boat length? I am looking at a 16 footer! IS IT TO SHORT? Here it is! http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/1/9/77190419.htm
Gator
Re: Boat Length? It depends on what you want to do with it. To me 16ft is almost to short. The boat we used fishing this weekend was 19ft, center console. I would try for an 18ft boat personally. Force motor, I ain't heard ANYTHING good about them at all. Ryan, go by BOAT DOCK PRO SHOP, see what they have.
Gator
Re: Boat Length? http://www.wareagleboats.com/boats/category.asp?category=23 That's what I spent the weekend in, that baby is SWEEET!!!!! Had a 90hp Honda 4-stroke on it, motor cost more than the boat and trailer!!
hutchies
Re: Boat Length? My stepdad has a 18 ft. Challenger and here on Texoma you need a bigger boat than that a 21 ft rides real smooth even when its choppy. Might watch this sight they have some used boat come up on there alot. That blue wave on there is not a bad deal. http://www.sixoldgeezers.com/4sale.html Pay a little more and get what you want the first time or you will not be happy. bulldawg
Re: Boat Length? It all depends on the comfort level you are looking at. I don't need a big boat for the lakes I fish these days, so I have a 14 footer. It gets pretty crowded at times. In the future, I will look at a 15 or 16 footer. In Wisc, you have to license a 16 footer, so there is more cost associated with it. If I was a rich man, the longest boat I'd need around here would be an 18 footer, and that's pretty much overkill , unless venturing out on the great lakes. RyanH
Re: Boat Length? Im seriously Considering this boat! But I will have some delaing with them! $7000 for a 8 year old boat i have problems with!
hutchies
Re: Boat Length? Boats are not cheap by any means. But I do agree that price is steep. I would be surprised if they still have the boat anymore alot of times they post these boats and then never take them down off the net because it is just free advertisement. fisherguy
Re: Boat Length? For a boat look at a few things. First, the water involved. On a big open lake you want a bigger boat. Second, beam(width) is just as critical,as well as hull shape. You want something stable, and a longer boat is not necessarily more stable. Also consider the typical load of people and gear. jerdanmagic
Re: Boat Length? I just bought a 2000 G3 175. Its a 17 1/2 footer, and about as short as I'd wanna go on a bass boat. We were down at Lake Chickasha last week, and the wind picked up and it was pretty rough for a while. Personally, I would not want to go with any boat (excluding a two man) shorter than 17 feet. I dont want to rain on your parade, but as nice as a Champion is, I'd stear clear of a Force. I've never owned one, but my Dad used to have a 50 horse on a jon boat, and he said that it was pretty sorry. Good luck finding a boat!!! Its that time of year! VABuckSlayer
Re: Boat Length? My brother just bought a 2002 Triton TR21 with a 225 Mercury Optimax. That is one sweet ride. It takes some time getting use to the handling once it gets to 65+ mph but once you get a feel for it it's fine. Will do about 74 mph. I personally wouldn't get a boat under 18' but depending on where your fishing... it may not matter too much. My brother and I tournament fish and on places like the Potomac River it can get pretty rough. A bigger boat won't beat you up as bad. He was going to get a Bass Cat but got a GREAT deal on the Triton plus the Triton is a lot wider than the Cat. As far as motors go... wouldn't buy anything but a MERC! Hope you get a good one! Good luck. Eric
