Encore scope mounting ????

Re: Encore scope mounting ????

I am using Leupold Quick Release Base and Rings on my 209x50 Encore. I am using medium rings, with A Bushnell Elite 3200, 3x9x40. I also had my base modified, and the barrel drilled and tapped, to put to more screws toward the front of the base, making it a 6 screw base, instead of 4.

Re: Encore scope mounting ????

Is that the model where the release levers are part of the base vs. the ring? Do those levers "snug down" even when the rings are removed? I've always thought they may be loose and make noise when shooting open sites.

Why the extra 2 screws?? I'm assuming recoil.

Yes, the levers are part of the base on the Leupold QR system.

The levers on the Leupold QR do not snug down without a scope attatched.

I just took my scope off my barrel, and try as I might, shaking the barrel as hard as I could, I could not get a sound out of the QR levers.

Also with my set up. Med rings, Bushnell Elite 3200 3x9x40, the scope will not clear the factort rear sight. It looks like it would be very close with high rings, and would definately clear with extra high rings. I removed both the front and rear sights when I mounted my scope.

Yup.. added strength and rigidity. The leupold base is 4" long, and all 4 mounting screws are in the rearward 1 3/4" of the base. I had David White drill the base, and tap and drill the barrel for 2 more holes, one is 7/16", and the other is 15/16" ahead of the forward most factory mounting hole.
