Guest BeerSlayer1
What are you Sask. guys going to put in for in the Centennial Hunt draw? In case you haven't heard you can enter to get a tag (and tags for 3 buddies) for any species in any zone. It looks like it's free to enter and seems like a really weird thing for the government to come up with, but I sure hope I win. Right now I'm not sure what I'd choose. I saw monster Antelope in Zone 2 when I was drawn in 03, and there's some super mule deer bucks in my favorite zone. Cypress Hills moose have always been on draw application as well. What's your choice?

Guest BeerSlayer1
Re: Saskatchewan Centennial Hunt It took a really looooooooong time for me to load it. They mention that there may be quite a few new "hunting opportunities" as far as elk and moose go for 2006. I guess they are letting people know so they can get in the draw this year and make it to Super A for next year. I didn't look at the 2005 Moose draws that closely though. Also new CWD cases near Brock and St. Walburg.

buckee
Re: Saskatchewan Centennial Hunt Sounds pretty nice guys. All the best to you sask guys this season, especially if they're giving out extra centennial tags. I just hope the game populations can handle it and the yahoos don't come crawling out of the woodwork.
superguide
Re: Saskatchewan Centennial Hunt Got my synopsis-they are giving out two of those centennial tags so about half a days worth of roadkill for our zone.
Guest BeerSlayer1
Re: Saskatchewan Centennial Hunt 2 draws, 4 tags each for a total of 8. It ain't gonna hurt any populations that's for sure. Better than nothin though.

SaskMan
Re: Saskatchewan Centennial Hunt I'm applying for the same thing that I apply for every year......................NOTHING. .........but teachers have so many holidays!!!! Yeah, I can use 2 personal days during the school year, hardly enough time to go away on a hunt. Too bad some of the so called time off didn't fall during hunitng season. Guest BeerSlayer1
Re: Saskatchewan Centennial Hunt I absolutely couldn't believe the time off from school my kids had last fall. It was a huntin kids dream! I'm thinking someone at the school board office must be a hunter. Here's what it looked like: Sep 25, 26, 27 Three day weekend. Oct 7 Early dismissal then Oct 8,9,10,11 off - Four day weekend. Nov 11,12,13,14 Four day weekend. Nov. 25 Early dismissal then Nov 26,27,28 off Three day weekend. Hey, did you hear about the new math the teachers are putting into the curriculum? Since they settled their contract they've been teaching "NDP math" 0+1+1=6 To all the hard working teachers - just kidding. I certainly wouldn't want your job. Guest BeerSlayer1
Re: Saskatchewan Centennial Hunt My hunting partner is a teacher and he gets out LOTS. He usually wrangles a first period spare and we get in at least a goose hunt or two a week during Sep. and Oct. He usually has to take off from the field at 8 so I'm left to pick up decoys but I don't mind. Nov. 11th he usually stretches into a three day weekend for mulies. He usually gets in a few evenings a week for whitetail close to the city as well. Then of course there's all day Saturday. If you are coaching sports, that's a real hunt spoiler. Hey HiawathaSk I was up in your neck of the woods in 91 when I got drawn for elk. Hunted the west side of the park north to the Red Deer and over to Chelan. Nice area, lot's of sign and lot's of hunters. I saw the most incredible thing in the Red Deer river first morning. I'll tell you about it when I have more time. SaskMan
Re: Saskatchewan Centennial Hunt Now we've pulled this thread off topic but I've got to elaborate by stating that those 3 and four day weekends for kids usually don't end up being the same for teachers. One day is usually an inservice day and guaranteed time at home on the weekend is used for planning and correcting. I know I'm starting to preach a bit but I'd invite anybody in to the life of a school teacher for a week, they may not think we're so over paid. Hiawatha, if you want to teach and hunt here is some advice. Shoot a bow or a muzzleloader. That is the only way on earth you will find any time to hunt. Evenings are lomg enough then for you to get out, once Nov. rolls around.......forget about it. As for the coaching, my closest friend in town logged over 500 volunteer coaching hours last year between basketball and track and field. Those are unpaid hours I may add. Guess who didn't spend one single day hunting last year??? Beerslayer, I'm glad the public knows what the gov't is trying to do, 0-1-1 =6. By the way, the contract has not been settled on, goes to a vote next week, DO NOT be surprised to see teachers vote it down. Sorry for hijacking the thread everybody, just venting my frustrations. I'd like to go shed hunting tonight but I've got tests to correct and I need to develop some writing rubrics so there goes my evening. ....... But I thought teachers were done work at 3:30. Anyways, these are reasons why I'll never apply for a big game draw and likely never shoot another decent buck in my life unless it comes with a smokepole in Oct. Guest BeerSlayer1
Re: Saskatchewan Centennial Hunt Dang, I didn't win. With 370,000 entries my chances were not as good as I thought they would be.
