Re: Venison supplies

I have quite a bit left. We eat it about 4 times a week, but now that my son has moved out and my youngest is away at college and the other two daughters are rarely home it is just me and the wife. But the grilling season has just begun. In fact last Sunday a couple guys came over to the house and after we ate hamburgs and hot dogs we were still hongry so I took some loins and sausage out and threw them on the grill. I love venison !!!!!

Re: Venison supplies

If you're buying any beef then it's your own fault! In our house you name any recipe that might have beef and we substitute with venison.

What cuts do you have and what recipes do you use. Can you take it to a processor for Italian or summer sausage? Are you using the meat in non-traditional methods? Make taco's or jerked (not jerky) venison. Here is one of my favorite recipes and this is what I take to work for lunch. Try it and it is a great way to use up venison grin.gif

Take one package of venison an cover with water. Bring to a low boil for 1 hour per pound. When done pour into a collander and let it cool for 20 minutes. Next shread it with your fingers into little pieces and place it in a large bowl. Mix in some Dinosaur BBQ sauce till moist, heat then spread on rolls and WALA! You have made pulled venison. I put it in small containers to warm up at work.

The secret to using up venison is to get more creative with it. Trust me! wink.gif PM me if you want more yummy ideas tongue.gif

Re: Venison supplies

Last week I marinated 25 pounds of meat, took it to work, and barbequed it up for the guys that work for me. They ate up every bit and wanted more. I do that a couple of times a year to thank them for the good job they do and to help me use up extra venison in the freezer. I still have 4 deer left in the freezer, which is more than enough to last me until the October 1st opener, so I may have to do another work barbeque soon.
