Re: what do you think

I was just looking at the ballistics on Winchester Supreme Platinum Tip, Hollow Point Sabots, 2 3/4", 400 grains, at 1700fps. On their ballistic charts with a 100 yard zero, you would only be 5.4" low at 150 yards. A foot over hold at that range, zeroed for 100 yards seems a bit much.

I just found the ballistics for the Supreme Gold's at 1900 fps. Zero'ed at 100 yards...you are looking at a 2.8" drop at 150. That definately makes the foot hold over way out of the ballpark.

Actually, the ballistics listed on Winchester's web site are for a 150 yard zero. That will give you a 2.9" drop at 175 yards. Sighted in zero at 100 yards, will give about a 7" drop at 170 yards. But I still agree with you.

when i shoot it hits him right in the shoulder so it might not be exactly a foot high.

It must be one of those new vital-seeking-slugs Winchester was talking about releasing. The ones that always hit vitals no matter where you aim. tongue.gif

The commercial where the woman gets all dressed up, douses herself with gasoline and gets in the car with Jeremy Mayfield. (What makes it less funny is her annoying voice, "Hey Jeremy!"

[/ QUOTE ]

Aj, i noticed that the zero was for 150 yards. With 150 yard zero, it was showing 2.8" high at 100 yards. That wouldn't relate to 2.8" low with 100 yard zero? Or am I missiing some mathematical logic about trajectory? Can you explain the difference to me?

Re: what do you think

It deals with angles. Moving the POI down 2.8 MOA at 100 yards will be moving the POI 4.2" at 150 yards. 1 MOA at 100 yards is about 1" while 1 MOA at 150 yards is about 1.5". Here is a plot of the trajectory. The first trace (T-1) is sighted in zero at 100 yards. The second one is sighted in 2.8" high at 100 yards. As you can see the deltas get larger the farther you go downrange.
