Guest lilcrackshot
I have been fishing for a while and have caught plenty of bass, perch, carp and the like but have failed to catch a single catfish. I have tried liver, stinkbait and about everything. We fish in farm ponds and a larger lake. Do you guys have any tips?

horst
Re: Catfish [ QUOTE ] First, make sure ther is catfish there [/ QUOTE ] Thats good advice right there It also depends on the size and type of catfish in the ponds/lake.Larger channel cats might not take the stinkbait and liver lke the smaller ones do.If there is a lotta bigger ones in them Id try a natural bait and fish it close to the bottom.Sometimes they bite a lot better after dark.During the day they might be hanging out in deeper parts of the lake or pond where you cant get to them from shore. One lake heres got a 18 ft deep channel cut through it where they dredged, during the day the cats just stack up in there, they dont go shallow till sunset to feed. Flatheads if there are any in there prefer a fresh live bait and bite mainly after dark. Without knowing the ponds or whats in them its hard to say what you need to change though
