wheelin99xj
Saturday morning my wife and I went out in S.W. MO and set up with a jake and 2 hen dekes out. We had birds gobbling on the roost about 400 yds away and I told her that it would probably be middle of the morning before they might make there way to us. They gobbled on the roost early and then stopped for about 20 minutes and then started gobbling on the ground. They would cut me off every time I would call. I saw them, three, in the field we were set up on about 300 yds away still gobbling at every call I made. They kept working there way to us and did not like our jake deke, they were all in his fase and doing fighting purrs and spitting. She shot first and hers dropped at 17 yds I picked one off running away at 27 yds. Hers weighed 22 lbs. with 10" beard and 1" spurs. Mine was 19 lbs. with 10-1/2" beard and 7/8" spurs. Needless to say it was a wonderful morning and were celebrated at 7:15 She was so excited she was crying and I was almost there myself. What a wonderful thing to share with your wife. I will have pics up this week. Thank you
