dogdoc Posted April 27, 2005 Report Share Posted April 27, 2005 Some good pics and a really sad pic. The Hamann Farms clover/trefoil plot is doing great---Unfortunately my cowpeas have bit the dust. I planted the peas 3 1/2 weeks ago. I had a nice 1/4 inch rain the next day and within a week most of the peas had germinated---I have not had a drop of rain on it since. I checked them a week ago and they were starting to turn a light green--now they are dead[:^(] Here are a few pics of the clover/trefoil plot. The plot is shaped like a large "L". The first pic is the bottom of the L. This part is about 50 yards long and 25 yards wide: This is a pic of the long part of the L shaped plot. It doesn't get as much sun and the other part but still doing pretty good: Here is a close up: Here is a pic of a perennial I started last fall. I will mow the wheat as soon as it matures to leave the seeds for the turkeys: Here is a pic 2 weeks after spraying Poast---you can see the fescue turning yellow--I thought it would be dead by now but I wonder if the spring drought we are having is affecting the Poast???? Seems May-June is the optimal window for peas and beans here. We had a frost here Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully we are going to be planting our lab lab sometime in the next couple weeks. We haven't had a frost or freeze since the first of March. The have just died of dehydration! JimT--yea I can replant but we still have no good chances of rain the forecast!
