Hunting whitetails in South and North Carolina?

I'm from Wisconsin, have hunted the last 20+ years up here. I'm considering a move down south, and was wondering what the whitetail hunting is like in the Carolina's? it would be bow and rifle. I realize that is a big ? to ask, as you have lowlands to the mountains. Also, what do you have to watch out for, snakes, spiders, ect.... Thanks for any info.

don't worry about snakes and spiders unless your hunting in the swamps. The land down here is VERY thick and treestand over food plot or creek bottoms are the most popular. Also, you will not see the numbers of deer you are accustomed to seeing, the deer are there, its just to thick to see them and they are generally more nocturnal down here due to the heat you will find all the way through the end of November. Also, lower you buck expectations. There are big bucks here but they are RARE. A 100 class animal is one that will draw alot of attention around hunting camp. Also they is almost no public land in comparison to private. Get ready to fork out 500-1000 bucks to be a part of a hunt club to get access to land.

I'll never forget the time I was hunting Camp LeJeune, back in the late 70's. I was sitting on a log, and I saw what looked like a very small, tan colored dog, running towards me with his tongue hanging out, and the tail just a waggin'. When It got within about 25 yards from me, i noticed a small 4 point basket rack on it's head, and I almost rolled off of the log laughing...

That was a certified one hander for getting it out of the woods.... It sure was small compared to the Wisconsin whitetails...lol
