Re: New York Opener tomorrow!

I was going to go camping yesterday until monday but the weather and my brother's work schedule messed that up. Well I will be setup in the dark tomorrow none the less. Good luck to all.

Re: New York Opener tomorrow!

Well, the weather forcast for today was suppose to be rain, so I didn't take off. Another reason was that on our opener, everyone and his brother will be out!! I decided to pass, and take off some days during the week instead. I'm at work as we speak, and the sun has been out right from the get go!!! I think these weatherman need another job!!! They can't predict what the weather will be in a few hours, let alone come out with a 5-day forcast!!

Re: New York Opener tomorrow!

Well, I amost called in 3 birds this morning on my diaphragm with some help from my dad and his box call. The birds got really close but we couldn't see them, only hear them, then they just shut up. They wouldn't gobble anymore.

Then around 10:00 AM we went up to a farm we have permission to go on. The farmer and his buddy kicked up 3 Toms with no shots fired down an old logging road. So then an hour later we head down that road and there they were. My dad's friend jumps off the quad, loads a shell into his 1100 and BOOM! Either he missed or at 65 yards his #4's didn't have enough energy to penetrate. The bird buckled and rolled for a bit, then got up and ran off. frown.gif We tracked it until 12:00 PM and then went back for lunch. Only to check on the nest and find the 2 eggs eaten. We jumped a hawk off the nest so that might be it?
